The Fitzpatrick Hotel Group Completes Three Year, $12 million Renovation of Both
New York City Hotels, The Fitzpatrick Grand Central and The Fitzpatrick Manhattan

 
New York – October 2011 - Continuing the year-long celebration of its 20th anniversary in New York City, The Fitzpatrick Hotel Group, North America, has just completed a full renovation of The Fitzpatrick Grand Central, which was recently rated one of NYC’s top hotels by Travelocity customers. Located in the heart of one of the city’s most desirable shopping, dining, business and tourism districts, the Fitzpatrick Grand Central boasts 155 newly renovated guest rooms and suites as well as a beautifully redesigned lobby and entryway. The renovation began nearly two years ago on the heels of the renovation of Fitzpatrick Hotel Group’s other NYC location, the Fitzpatrick Manhattan.

Now, as we celebrate our 20th year of operation in New York, we can welcome guests not only with the highest quality service but with fresh, new accommodations as well,” said John Fitzpatrick, President and CEO of The Fitzpatrick Hotel Group, North America, who oversaw every aspect of the design, imbuing the finished product with a welcoming, gracious elegance that accentuates the exceptional personal service that is the hallmark of Fitzpatrick Hotels. “We invite guests from across the city and around the world to visit us and experience Fitzpatrick hospitality for themselves,” added Mr. Fitzpatrick.
 
The new lobby of the Fitzpatrick Grand Central offers soothing colors, new modern furnishings, luxe finishes, new artwork and lighting combined with the familiarity of Fitzpatrick’s famous Irish welcome. Upon entering, guests will no longer find a reception counter. Instead, they will be greeted by a member of the hotel staff and invited to sit and relax at one of three large desks where they can discuss any needs or plans for their stay. New high-back chairs flank the lobby’s fireplace. Beautiful pendant lights and cozy new wing chairs can be found in the library lounge and additional seating areas are located throughout the lobby for relaxing, reading or simply waiting for other guests.
 
From the lobby, guests pass through all new, redesigned hallways and public spaces, featuring new carpeting, wall coverings and artwork, before arriving at their rooms. The redesigned guestrooms and suites at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central provide serenity and warmth with a neutral palette offset with bold accents, rich materials and sumptuous textures. New, natural-toned wall coverings and draperies are complemented by contemporary wall-mounted, wood-framed vibrant red headboards as well as red bed scarves and pillows. Soft, new recessed lighting and flat screen televisions have also been added to each room to enhance the guest experience.
 
When visiting the Fitzpatrick Grand Central, guest can find the popular Wheeltapper Pub just off the lobby. The Wheeltapper takes its name from the Irish rail inspectors (or ‘wheeltappers') who long ago checked train wheels for faults or cracks. The interior is filled with museum-quality artifacts, collected from actual railway stations across Ireland. The pub is also home to the magnificent, 2,200-square-foot Patio at The Wheeltapper which is an all-weather oasis, protected from the elements by a retractable awning specially designed by a custom sail maker from Barbados. The Wheeltapper is open daily from 7am to 2am (the Patio closes at 11pm).
