November 16, 2011 - Autograph Collection, one of Marriott International’s newest business ventures, announced today that Union Station Hotel, located in Nashville, Tennessee, will join the Collection in January 2012. The Union Station Hotel is a restored 19th-Century railroad station, replete with historic Southern charm, offering 125 recently renovated luxurious guest rooms including 12 deluxe suites that are spacious and opulently decorated with original Victorian touches.
The Union Station Hotel is the first hotel in Tennessee to be incorporated into Autograph Collection. It also becomes the 27th property to join the rapidly expanding list of independent hotels that cater to the interests of discerning travelers through their inimitability, style and unique offerings. “The Union Station Hotel embodies everything an Autograph Collection hotel is known for: creating exclusive and unique experiences that satisfy individualistic travelers’ diverse needs,” said Kip Vreeland, vice present for Autograph collection. “Due to the hotel’s distinctiveness, we are happy to announce this historic landmark’s integration into our portfolio at the start of 2012, and we are certain that guests will be equally as excited about our newest addition.”<>
Before becoming a historic hotel in the center of Nashville, it was the location of the L&N Railroad’s iconic train station, an important cornerstone in America’s economy that officially opened on October 9, 1900. The station closed in the late 1970s and remained vacant for many years. In 1986, it was converted to a hotel. In 2005, real estate developers Turnberry Associates and Corner Partnership LLC had the vision to reclaim and restore the iconic landmark with an $11-million dollar renovation that was completed in 2007. Since the hotel was created based on the railroad station's original design, no two rooms or suites are exactly the same, lending to a unique guest experience. With its heavy-stone Richardsonian-Romanesque design and architecture, the Union Station Hotel continues to be an important part of American history that allows guests to connect to the sophistication of the past while enjoying luxurious, modern day accommodations.
“The Union Station Hotel is a wonderful property with a tremendous amount of heart and charm,” said C. Scott Rohm, president of Turnberry Hotel Group, Union Station’s hotel management company. ”We selected the Autograph Collection to expose this historic gem to an even larger audience.”
Located near all the popular bars and clubs in downtown
Nashville, the Union Station Hotel is also close to various museums and
historic sites. Dining options include Nashville’s newest premier
restaurant, Prime 108, which delivers a dining experience as unique as
the elegant surroundings. It will be available for booking on www.autographcollectionhotels.com
in January 2012.
