P/Kaufmann Contract Joins MindClick SGM’s Hospitality
Sustainable Purchasing Consortium (HSPC)

P/Kaufmann, a leading quality fabric and textile provider, will collaborate with other visionary
organizations to build an industry-wide sustainability performance index

New York November 15, 2011 – The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium announced that P/Kaufmann has joined the Consortium as a Founding Member.  A leader in the manufacturing and selling of quality fabrics and textiles for the hospitality industry, P Kaufmann’s membership furthers the Consortium’s goals of establishing the Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSP Index) as the de facto performance measurement solution for industry suppliers.

With more than 4.5 million hotel rooms in the U.S., fabrics and textiles are significant investments for hotels, brands and owners – and as a central element of design, they have a substantial impact on the guest experience and the environmental footprint of a hotel.

“P/Kaufmann is excited to continue our policy of developing and engineering products to high standards that best meet the needs of our customers and have a positive impact in cleanability, durability and the environment”, said Curtis Breedlove, President of P/Kaufmann CONTRACT. He concluded, “Joining the HSPC enables us to work more closely with our customers and peers on environmental and purchasing issues, in keeping with our corporate stance on global and social responsibility.”

Twenty-six  organizations are now part of the Consortium, including more than a dozen industry-leading suppliers,  major brands, architects, designers, purchasing firms, and sustainability consultants.

P/Kaufmann and the HSPC
The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium (HSPC), created and led by MindClick SGM™, is a collaborative organization to help hotel owners purchase products that both reduce their properties’ environmental impact, and contribute to guest comfort, health and well-being.

P/Kaufmann, along with other Consortium members, will help establish criteria for creation of a new Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSPI). The Index will include measures of corporate social responsibility, environmental and product sustainability.  Product categories covered include furnishings, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), and operating supplies and equipment (OS&E).

"We are happy to welcome P/Kaufmann to the Consortium,” said JoAnna Abrams, CEO of MindClick SGM™.  “The Consortium will reflect the depth and breadth of products used in the interior design and accessorizing of hotels, and the participation of well-established industry suppliers such as P/Kaufmann reflects our belief in an industry wide solution for greening the hotel supply chain.” She concluded, “Like other leaders in the industry, P/Kaufmann is contributing to the push to balance cost, quality and sustainability.  We look forward to their contribution in shaping the HSP Index.”

P/Kaufmann joins existing Consortium members Marriott International, American Standard Brands, Audit Logistics, Aqua Hospitality Carpets, Benjamin West, BYD, Contract Decor International, Delta Faucet Company, Innvision, InterfaceFLOR, Kimball Hospitality, Majestic Mirror and Frame, Mark David, PE INTERNATIONAL Inc., Quiltcraft Industries, Richloom Fabrics Group, RTKL, Ramsey Purchasing, SERA Architects, Shafer Commercial Seating, Simmons Hospitality Bedding and Valley Forge Fabrics.
