AUSTIN, TEXAS
(November 8, 2011) — HFTP
Global President Lisa Funk, CHAE, announced today that Frank I. Wolfe,
CAE, has
accepted HFTP's offer to remain at the helm of the association's
management.
Wolfe continues as HFTP's CEO through May 2015, a job he has held since
1994.
Wolfe started with the association in 1991 as its director of education.
"The HFTP Global
Board and I see Frank as an important element to HFTP’s expansion
and
global reputation. He has contributed greatly to the positive evolution
of
HFTP, keeping it current with global business practices," said Funk,
director of finance at Alexis Hotel. "Through his partnership with HFTP
members, the association has continued to provide benefits that are
applicable
to the modern professional, and has kept HFTP as an important player in
the
hospitality industry."
During Wolfe's
tenure, the association has experienced tremendous growth in its
educational
programs, membership and certification programs. In addition to the
expansion
of HITEC® (Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and
Conference), the
formation of EHTEC (European Hospitality Technology Educational
Conference) and
the development of GUESTROOM 20X, Wolfe has been crucial to the
association’s
worldwide brand expansion.
Wolfe frequently
speaks on hospitality finance, technology, social media and travel
issues to
varied audiences and has presented in more than 20 countries. He has
been
featured in association, conference and industry publications including
Convene
Magazine, Association Management Magazine, MeetingTech Online and
Hospitality
Upgrade Magazine. He has appeared on several television network
interviews and
programs including CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, TVAsia and Bloomberg.
Earlier this year,
Wolfe was inducted into the International Hospitality Technology Hall
of Fame
for his stewardship to the industry and his leadership with various
hospitality
technology projects over the past 20 years. In June 2010 he was
recognized as a
"Technology Trailblazer" by Hotel Business Magazine and in October 2010
was featured by Boardroom Magazine in an exclusive cover story
interview. He
also received the HFTP Paragon Award in 2002 and was included in
Lodging
magazine's "75 Profiles in Leadership" edition in 2000.
Wolfe is a board
member for the International Hotel and Restaurant Association, American
Hotel
and Lodging Association and the Dean’s Advisory Council Conrad Hilton
College
University of Houston. He is also a member of the American Society of
Association Executives and has served on the board of directors of the
Texas
Society of Association Executives.
He is a graduate of
East Tennessee State University where he received a degree in Health
Administration and later attended graduate school there in the
Counseling and
Guidance Program. In 1992, he was awarded the Certified Association
Executive
designation (CAE), which is the association industry's highest
designation. He
is married to Emily, an intellectual property rights paralegal, with
whom he
has recently co-authored an article on Intellectual Property in
Association
Management Magazine, and has two step sons, Niles and Nathan.
