TravelShark Launches RatherLocal™ Hyper-Local Dining and Shopping Guides,
Reviews on Major Market Sites

Digitizing the rather city guides for the first time, TravelShark offers free insider
content and inspiration for locals and travelers

SINGAPORE (December 7, 2011) – Following its successful acquisition of the newly branded rather books, leading online global travel network TravelShark today launched the rather content on its related major market hotel sites as RatherLocal™. Now, rather’s dining and shopping venues, reviews, and captivating photography are showcased on 16 TravelShark sites, including sites for New York Hotels, Seattle Hotels, Paris Hotels, Vancouver Hotels, and 12 additional city sites, with more launching soon. This marks the first time that rather content has appeared online in the eight years since the first publication of this popular international series.

The new RatherLocal feature offers site visitors access to more than 80 unique and undiscovered eating and shopping gems in each rather city. Site visitors will find venue information, intimate first-person reviews from insider city editors, and striking photography that evokes the atmosphere of the store or restaurant. Continuing on the path to digitization and mobile leveraging of rather curated content, TravelShark soon will launch new rather mobile applications to give both locals and travelers the chance to experience a city in a new way.

RatherLocal recommendations and reviews will be added for additional European and Asian cities starting in Spring 2012 and also will be expanded to cover suggestions for outdoor activities, cultural events, and alternative sightseeing spots, all with a rather angle.

“Bringing rather travel recommendations to our users for free is the next logical step in providing our global user base with the best hyper-local content available in the travel industry,” said Sue Heilbronner, CEO of TravelShark.  “Our site visitors from around the world would ‘rather’ use local sites packed with truly original, curated content, and this initiative fully reinforces that desire.”
