Curtin Bluff on Antigua, West Indies Completes Resort-wide Renovations
and Appoints Christopher Eastmond as General Manager

Antigua, West Indies – September 26, 2011
– Curtain Bluff opens for its 50th season October 29th with exciting news - the appointment of a new general manager to work alongside veteran Managing Director Rob Sherman, resort-wide renovations and upgrades, enhanced staff training and even a new website.

Over the summer season, Curtain Bluff completed the renovation of the 18 deluxe beachfront rooms with all new furniture. The style evokes a more contemporary Caribbean feel that compliments modern artwork in the rooms.

Additional upgrades include new bedding in all deluxe rooms and 22 junior suites, the addition of chaise lounge cushions along the calm beach and new furniture in the library.

An already successful management team will be strengthened this season with the addition of Christopher Eastmond, who has just been appointed as the new general manager of the resort. Eastmond will be working alongside Managing Director Rob Sherman, who has been at the helm of the resort for the past 24 years. Eastmond will be taking the reigns from Cal Roberts, who is transitioning into retirement after 43 years of dedicated service at Curtain Bluff. A Caribbean hotel specialist with over 22 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Eastmond joins Curtain Bluff from the Veranda Resort & Residences in Turks & Caicos. He was also part of the opening team at Sandy Lane in Barbados, and held positions in Antigua at Carlisle Bay, Cobbler’s Cove and Hodges Bay Club.

Curtain Bluff has taken great strides over the years to keep up with current travel trends and satisfy their guests who have been coming back to the resort for ten, twenty, even for over forty years. Last season, the resort implemented a new “Barefoot on the Beach” dinner every Monday where the culinary team offered a dining alternative at the beachfront restaurant.

Guests enjoy fresh seafood, live music, and laid-back camaraderie and because of its success, the program will continue for the 2011-2012 season.

This January, Curtain Bluff will host its first-ever Wellness Week, where guests will relax with daily spa treatments, fitness regimes, healthy cooking classes, and even a consultation with a nutritionist.

Travel agents and guests will find it much easier to navigate the new Curtain Bluff website, which launched in August 2011. The site features the latest photos and property news, and was designed to be a more user-friendly and attractive tool. Launching a new website was a natural step for this property, as Curtain Bluff has strongly developed its Facebook and Twitter social media presence over the past few years. New mini-brochures were designed this year so that travel agents and potential guests and media will have a more updated and fresh overview of the property.

“I’m thrilled to begin our 50th season with such fresh, exciting news and developments,” said Managing Director Rob Sherman. “We have been able to provide a resort experience that has drawn guests back to year after year as their Caribbean ‘home away from home.’ With the resort upgrades, new technology, and welcome addition of Christopher to our team, I am confident this season will be one of our best.” And to ensure guests keep coming back, Sherman implemented a new customer service training program for all 210 staff.
