Bay Point Marriott in Panama City Beach, Florida to be
Rebranded as the Wyndham Bay Point Resort

By Randal Yakey, The News Herald, Panama City, Fla.McClatchy-Tribune Regional News

Sept. 28, 2011--PANAMA CITY BEACH -- There are big changes coming to the Bay Point Marriot Resort & Spa.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced Tuesday the Bay Point resort will be renamed Wyndham Bay Point Resort. The change will become official Saturday.

"There is no ownership change; this is a franchise agreement," resort General Manager David Sheets said Tuesday. "We are all excited about working with the Wyndham hotel group."

According to a Wyndham news release, the property will continue to operate as a full-service resort as it has since opening in 1986.

Wyndham will change the name of its street in front of the resort, which currently is Marriott Drive.

In addition, there will be new signage, flat-panel televisions are expected to be installed, and new linens, carpeting and wireless Internet access in all guestrooms are expected to be added, according to the release.

Sheets also said the resort would not handle time shares, as many Wyndham resorts do.

Marriott corporate officials did not return calls for comment Tuesday.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts LLC, a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide Corp., offers hotel and resort accommodations throughout the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, China and the Caribbean. Wyndham already operates a Wyndham Vacation Resort, which offers time shares, on Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach and a Wingate by Wyndham hotel off State 77 in Lynn Haven.
