New Vision Ventures Breaks Ground on Home2 Suites
by Hilton in Jackson, Mississippi

Owned by New Vision Ridgeland Hotel, LCC and Managed by
New Vision Hotel Management, LCC

McLean, VA (Aug. 25, 2011) – Home2 Suites by Hilton broke ground today in Jackson, Miss. on the brand’s 13th extended-stay hotel. The property will be the second Home2 Suites in the Mississippi market, following the D’Iberville hotel that is currently under construction and slated to open in June 2012.

Home2 Suites, a mid-tier, all-suite hotel brand designed for modern business travelers and extended-stay guests, features a distinct contemporary style with an emphasis on comfort, flexibility and easy access to technology. First introduced in January 2009, the brand already has three properties open in Fayetteville, N.C.; Layton, Utah and Baltimore, Md. Nine other hotels are under active construction, with 40 additional properties in the development stage.

The Jackson/Ridgeland Home2 Suites will be located at 526 Evergreen Street, a short distance from the Renaissance at Colony Park shopping area in Ridgeland, just north of the city. New Vision Ventures is developing the four-story, 92-suite hotel, which will be owned by New Vision Ridgeland Hotel, LCC and managed by New Vision Hotel Management, LCC. The property is scheduled to open in summer 2012.

To commemorate the groundbreaking, Home2 Suites executives joined representatives from New Vision Ventures and members of the local business community at the site of the planned hotel for a reception, brief remarks and a ceremonial first dig.

“Home2 Suites will bring a new flavor to the Jackson area hotel industry that will blend well with the range of attractions and businesses drawing visitors to the region,” said Jagdish Barot, president of New Vision Ventures. “We saw Home2 as an exciting opportunity to expand our portfolio with a fresh hotel concept and modern take on extended-stay accommodations.”

“The City of Ridgeland is excited that Hilton has chosen our community as the next location for Home2 Suites,” said Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee. “This speaks highly of our city and will help improve the local economy as well as the quality of life for our citizens.”

New Vision Ventures expects a number of area attractions and organizations to bring guests to the hotel, including the Jackson Convention Complex, Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Various corporate headquarters stationed in Jackson, such as Trustmark Corporation, Cal-Maine Foods Inc. and Ergon, also regularly draw business travelers to the city and surrounding region.

“The Jackson area will be an excellent location for our next hotel, with a tourism industry driven by such a variety of major businesses, historic landmarks, regional attractions and local institutions,” said Dawn Koenig, vice president of brand performance support for Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites by Hilton.

In addition to the extensive array of brand-standard Home2 Suites amenities, the Jackson/Ridgeland property will feature an outdoor recreational area that ties directly into the Ridgeland hiking and biking trail. Other highlights will include an integrated guest laundry and fitness room, a patio and grill, outdoor lounge and an open indoor community space.

In developing the concept of the brand, the Home2 Suites team found research shows guests in extended-stay situations seek community and connection after several days, even if it means they are singularly working among others in a common space.  To help address that need, all Home2 Suites properties feature an open lobby area with an approximately 4,200-square-foot community space called the “Oasis.”  The Oasis, which includes communal and individual work zones, wireless access, a 52” flat-screen TV and an expansive complimentary continental breakfast service, is designed to encourage a social environment where guests can relax together, research the local area, check e-mail and enjoy an assortment of hospitality resources unrivaled in this segment of the hotel industry.

All guest suites at the new Jackson/Ridgeland property will include a variety of modern features and amenities, such as the proprietary Home2 Suites “working wall,” which incorporates the kitchen and a flexible working space connecting separate living and bedroom zones.  A fully accessorized kitchen will contain a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, place settings for six, microwave oven and coffee maker, and the media/working zone will feature a queen-size sofa/sleeper, 42” flat-screen TV, roll-around ottoman, ambient task lighting and an iHome alarm clock with iPod port and MP3 jack.  Various pieces of furniture in each of the suites will be designed to move around, allowing guests to create customized living spaces and adjustable storage options.

The Home2 Suites brand is committed to environmentally conscious practices and has been incorporating a number of sustainable living fixtures and services into all new hotels. In addition to recycling throughout the hotel, guest suites feature low-flow showers and faucets, biodegradable food trays, compact fluorescent light bulbs, dual-flush toilets, recycled flooring, Energy Star appliances, and carpet and surfaces made from recycled product and other sustainable product selections. Home2 Suites has also rolled out Hilton’s portfolio of brand’s proprietary LightStay system, which measures energy and water use and waste and carbon output at Hilton Worldwide properties around the globe.
