Winston Hospitality Completes Renovation of 169-room
Courtyard by Marriott in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Chapel Hill, NC – August 15, 2011 – Winston Hospitality takes great pleasure in reintroducing the Courtyard by Marriott to the Chapel Hill community.  The hotel now features the new generation of the Courtyard brand.  The lobby incorporates the new “Refreshing Business” concept which blends relaxation with cutting edge technology and services making it the perfect place to connect.

Minutes from Downtown Chapel Hill and across the street from the William and Ida Friday Center, the Courtyard offers convenient access to the University of North Carolina, UNC Hospitals and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.  For people coming in to visit the area, the Chapel Hill Shuttle and Tarheel Express takes guests directly to Kenan Stadium, the Dean E. Smith Center and other popular UNC destinations.

Meshing the new  “Refreshing Business” lobby with the hotels’ existing elegant southern charm, the property maintains its position as a destination hotel.  The Lobby features the Marriott exclusive element that utilizes GoBoard® technology, a 55-inch LCD touch screen packed with local information, maps, weather, and news, business and sports headlines.  Guests can navigate using the touch screen to find area restaurants, local attractions and directions.  The enlarged business library offers several complimentary computer terminals with printer and a separate computer station dedicated to printing airline boarding passes and checking flight status.

The dining experience has been completely redesigned with the addition of “The Bistro-Eat. Drink. Connect” which offers casual, flexible seating; easier access to food, high quality and healthy menu options for meals and a light evening fare, including snacks, wine and beer so guests can unwind.  Keeping with the hotel’s tradition, the breakfast buffet will continue to be offered as a part of the morning fare.  Flexible seating options range from a communal table in the middle of the action, to more private media booths with high-definition televisions.  The updated bar and lounge gives guests the opportunity to sit back, relax and experience their favorite game on a state-of-the-art 55 inch television with Bose surround sound.    Outside seating is also available in the Courtyard with tables and chairs and a fire pit for cool Carolina evenings.

A transformation also took place in the hotel’s 169 guest rooms which have been appointed with new custom designed décor, luxury linens, contemporary furnishings and refreshed bathrooms.  The redesigned accommodations feature a seating area with sofa bed or oversized chair, a large, well-lit work desk, a high-definition television and complimentary high-speed Internet access.  For travelers who want a little more space and convenience, the hotel also offers junior-suites and master-suites with all the standard features as well as a wet bar with a refrigerator, microwave oven, and additional storage.

“We are extremely thrilled to introduce our newly redesigned hotel,” said Crystal Bynum, General Manager, Courtyard by Marriott Chapel Hill. “The centerpiece of the hotel is the new lobby which allows guests to get out of their rooms to work, socialize or for entertainment, whether traveling alone or with colleagues.”
