Bulgari Hotels Chooses Papagayo EcoDevelopment in
Costa Rica for First Latin American Property

Will Build $100 Million Hotel with Possible Room Rates of $4,000 a Night

Aug. 19, 2011--Luxury hotel chain Bulgari Hotels and Resorts recently selected Costa Rica as the site of its first hotel in Latin America, the daily La Nacion reported. The brand Bulgari is famous internationally for its high-end Italian jewelry stores. Bulgari Hotels is operated by Marriott's luxury division, and room rates could reach $4,000 a night. According to the paper, the hotel will be built at the Papagayo EcoDevelopment in the northwestern Guanacaste province at a cost of $100 million.

Bulgari currently operates hotels in Milan, Bali and Tokyo, and plans to open its fourth hotel in London next year. No word yet on when work will begin on the Costa Rica hotel.
