InvoTech Announces GIMS™ UHF-RFID Linen and Uniform Tracking System

New UHF-RFID System (GIMS™) Eliminates Hand Counts, Creates Greater Laundry Efficiency,
Reduces Lost Items to Save Money

Los Angeles, CA – May 24, 2011 – InvoTech Systems, Inc., provider of the GIMS™ uniform and inventory control system for hotels, casinos, resorts, and theme parks worldwide for nearly 20 years, announced the launch of its GIMS™ Ultra-High Frequency Radio Frequency ID Uniform and Linen Systems.  The new UHF-RFID system creates greater efficiency and accountability by automating tracking of thousands of uniform and linen items per minute via electronic scanning without hand sorting or counting.  Please click here for more information on InvoTech’s RFID asset management solution.

The advent of new, durable UHF-RFID tags that withstand the rigorous laundry process coupled with greater affordability of those tags makes UHF-RFID asset tracking possible. It is a financially attractive alternative to older methods that use barcodes and HF-RFID. “InvoTech’s new UHF-RFID tracking system scans, inventories, and generates reports for entire carts of linens or uniforms at one time because the technology has a much greater reading distance than legacy systems,” explained Jeff Welles, InvoTech Vice President. “This creates a huge efficiency boost for the labor-intensive job of hand counting or hand scanning individual uniforms and linens.”  The asset tracking with RFID system also protects a company’s investment in linens and uniforms. It maintains a real-time record of where each piece is located, whether in storage, the laundry, or in use.

UHF-RFID readers reduce labor, automatically record linen and uniform status
“InvoTech places specialized UHF-RFID readers and antennas in key locations around a property to track and report on the movement of hundreds of linens or uniforms per minute,” said Welles.  “Tracking is done automatically so that when linens or articles of apparel pass by a reader station, the system records and logs the movement without any labor required at all.”

UHF-RFID laundry tags are fitted in pouches sewn into linens and uniforms. Inventory then may be tracked in large batches rather than by single-piece hand counts.  The GIMS™ solution also automates the daily tracking of shipped and received linens and uniforms from laundries, and monitors inventory levels in all of a property’s storerooms.

As part of its normal services, InvoTech specialists provide on-site system installation and training, as well as ongoing 24-hour customer support and software updates.

UHF-RFID Benefits on Display at HITEC 2011, Booth #236
At the upcoming HITEC 2011 tradeshow June 20 to 23 in Austin, Texas, InvoTech will demonstrate its automated inventory control system. Visitors will be able to witness first-hand how GIMS™ tracks the movement of linens and uniforms, automatically, with no labor involved. The InvoTech demonstration will cover three critical areas of uniform and linen operations:
  • Pick up by employees of clean uniforms and drop-off of soiled uniforms
  • Addition and removal of linens for various storerooms around the property
  • Send and receive linens and uniforms to and from laundries
