Grand Hyatt DFW , one of the world’s premier hotels for business and international leisure travelers, today announced a $13 million renovation of its 298 guest rooms, meeting space and dining outlets Moka and M Lounge, beginning May 15. General Manager Andrew Davidson expects the renovation to be completed in September 2011 with virtually no interference in guest comfort.

The four-month project focuses on creating a more residential feel within the guest rooms of DFW’s premier airport hotel . Moreover, the hotel, which currently has a Green Key rating of 4 Keys, is also concentrating on energy management and integrated guest room automation to satisfy the sophisticated traveler’s technology needs and desire for continued green improvements.

New guestroom features at the Fort Worth Texas area hotel include:
  • Upscale, residential ambiance with touches of granite, wood and leather
  • Sleek, minimalist bedding which eliminates the use of decorative pillows and bedspreads
  • High-end art pieces by Dallas-based photo artist Richard Bettinger, who invented and trademarked the De-Compressionism style. His art will also be displayed in all the hotel’s public areas, including the meeting space.
  • Dedicated recycling sorting bins
  • Energy saving features: Window shade system that automatically opens upon entrance and closes upon exiting; In-room lighting that is a combination of LED and compact fluorescent bulbs, which also automatically turn off once the room is unoccupied.
  • Convenient bed-side touchscreen panels that control A/C, lighting and window shades
New meeting space features at the DFW Airport hotel include:
  • Contemporary color scheme
  • Art gallery-like feel to pre-function space with modern furnishings and featuring dramatic floor-to-ceiling art pieces by Richard Bettinger
  • New additional 10-person boardroom
New dining outlet features at Grand Hyatt DFW include:
  • Moka: Dedicated walk-up counter/grab-and-go serving premium illy® Café beverages, panini, gourmet desserts and more; 55-inch flat panel TV
  • M Lounge: Addition of a small walk-up sushi bar serving sushi, sashimi and a few traditional rolls
"From a design aesthetic, we really want our guests to feel like they are walking into their own home that could be anywhere in the world,” explains Davidson. He adds, “Guests continuously relay their surprise that they are in an airport hotel, and we will to continue to exceed their expectations with these enhancements.”
