LAKE
HAVASU CITY, Ariz., June 16, 2011—Tim Peters, general manager of
the Nautical
Beachfront Resort in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., announced that Thomas
Hanlon has
been named executive chef for the resort. A 30--year
F&B
veteran, Hanlon will be responsible for the operations of the resort’s
Turtle
Grill restaurant, Turtle Beach Bar and all food operations.
Most
recently, Hanlon was the owner/operator of the award-winning Artisan
Bread
Bakery in Las Vegas, which supplied celebrity restaurants run by Bobby
Flay,
Todd English Tom Colicchio and Alan Ducasse at Bellagio, Four Seasons,
the Ritz
Carlton, MGM Grand and Caesar’s Palace. Prior to his solo
venture, Hanlon
earned a name for himself opening unique themed restaurants in his
native
Michigan and Las Vegas.
“Chef Tom
has cooked with and for many of today’s great chefs,” noted Peters in
making
the announcement. “His classical training coupled with his flair
for
what’s current, make him a great addition to our team as we seek to
raise the
bar at our landmark resort.”
Hanlon is
a graduate of the Madeleine Kamman Culinary School in Annecy France and
New
Hampshire where he was personally trained by James Beard Award winner,
Gary Danko.
“Since
Nautical Beachfront Resort is on a lake, we’ll incorporate more seafood
into
our menu,” Hanlon said. “We’ll be creating a distinct identity by
taking
inspiration from the Caribbean, New Orleans and the Mediterranean, all
areas
that are known for their unique approach to their local seafood.
Similarly, we’ll be sourcing as many ingredients as possible from local
purveyors with the goal of making the Turtle Grill a culinary
destination in
Arizona.”
According
to Hanlon, visitors will notice changes immediately, yet
gradually. He anticipates introducing new items as specials,
and gauging guest reaction before revamping the menu in its entirety.
