Rich Hinojosa Appointed Executive Chef at Hotel Jerome,
A RockResort in Aspen, Colorado

Aspen, Colo. – June 6, 2011 – Rich Hinojosa has been appointed executive chef at Hotel Jerome, A RockResort in Aspen, Colo. In his new position, Chef Hinojosa will oversee the catering and cuisine of the hotel’s dining venues including The Garden Terrace, The Library lounge and the renowned J-Bar. He begins work at Hotel Jerome just in time to kick off one of the country’s top culinary events, the 2011 FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen.

Chef Hinojosa decided to come to Hotel Jerome team as he found the opportunity a truly unique way to join a dynamic team at a property that is so rich in Aspen history.

Chef Hinojosa hails from the Westin Maui Resort and Spa in Maui, Hawaii. During his time in Maui, Rich was named a finalist in Hawaiian Hospitality Magazine’s “Hawaii’s Top Young Chef,” and also became a certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers. Rich was born and raised in Texas, and moved to Ariz. to begin his culinary career and attend the Scottsdale Culinary Institute. He held positions throughout the state at notable restaurants including Mary Elaine’s at The Phoenician in Scottsdale and The Praying Monk private dining room.

Chef Hinojosa joins Hotel Jerome at an exciting time, as the Garden Terrace will soon be open for guests to enjoy the best outdoor dining in Aspen.  He will be serving modern American cuisine that is inspired by Northern Italian, French and Latin flavors.  Dishes such as seared sea scallops with fennel, citrus and heirloom tomatoes and golden potato gnocchi with duck, Cabrales blue cheese, Shimeji mushrooms and Marcona almonds should compliment Aspen's beautiful summer weather perfectly.

The J-Bar is notorious for its classic Aspen Crud, a delicious cocktail disguised as a milkshake that dates back to the days of Prohibition. The classic burger is also not to be missed at the J –Bar. Chef Hinojosa will be serving up scrumptious tapas at The Library lounge that will pair well with its repertoire of fine wines and creative cocktails.

“I am thrilled to join the Hotel Jerome team, and could not have a better week to begin my tenure here than leading up to the esteemed FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen,” said Chef Hinojosa. “Many events are being held at Hotel Jerome and I am honored and thrilled to be a part of this noteworthy culinary event, and also begin work at this historic, beautiful resort.”

During the height of Colo.’s silver boom in 1889, Hotel Jerome was born from the vision of Jerome B. Wheeler, the co-owner of New York’s Macy’s department store. The grand hotel was considered a modern marvel. Today Hotel Jerome is more than a place to stay; it’s a place to experience. Located in the heart of Aspen, Hotel Jerome offers an elegant and relaxed ambiance, impeccable service, unsurpassed accommodations and exquisite dining in three award-winning restaurants. Favorites of locals and guests alike, the celebrated J-Bar offers lively spots for mingling. Each of the 94 richly appointed guestrooms and spacious suites provide a haven of comfort and sophistication. The hotel embodies the philosophy of Aspen – a balance of body, mind and spirit.  It is often said, “If you haven’t been to the Jerome, you haven’t been to Aspen.”
