Milwaukee, Wis., June 20, 2011 - Marcus® Hotels & Resorts today announced that Kent Duncan has been promoted to vice president, sales and revenue strategy. Duncan previously served as corporate director, revenue strategy.
In his new position, Duncan will continue his focus on integrating total hotel revenue management into the culture of the organization. His responsibilities will include focusing on initiatives towards improving customer engagement, training and optimizing brand and partner resources for the company.
“Kent has successfully led the revenue strategy team for three years. During that time, he has been very instrumental in integrating revenue management and strategies into our properties. Kent’s hands-on leadership abilities and expertise will continue to be an asset to our company as Kent transitions into his new role,” said Bill Otto, president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts.
Duncan joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2008 as corporate director, revenue strategy. In this position, his responsibilities included developing revenue management strategies for 19 properties nationwide. Duncan also established a call center for the company and implemented a centralized revenue management service department for the company’s various hotel brands.
Prior to joining Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Duncan spent 19 years with Marriott International. Most recently, he led the market strategy efforts for a cluster of hotels in the Atlanta area that included the JW Marriott Buckhead, Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center, Atlanta Marriott Century Center and the Ritz Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. Some of his achievements in this position included managing revenue for 17 properties in the Atlanta area representing $136 million in rooms and catering revenue, as well as growing the cluster of hotels from 11 to 16 in 2006 and to 17 hotels in 2008. Duncan held various sales positions at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter/Riverwalk, Denver Marriott City Center and the Hilton Head Marriott Beach & Golf Resort before serving as director of group strategy for the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Ritz Carlton Atlanta Downtown and Renaissance Atlanta Downtown in 2003. He began his career at the Salt Lake City Marriott in 1989 working in catering and meetings.
