HITEC Perspective - Day Two

A recap of personal experiences from the Hospitality Upgrade and Hotel-Online Staff

I’ve been hearing about HITEC since my first day working at Hospitality Upgrade. Everyone kept trying to describe the show floor, the booths and the exciting atmosphere of the entire week. When I think of that first day walking the show floor, one word keeps coming to mind: WOW!

When I initially walked into the show, the first thing that struck me was how huge everything is, including attendance. I was walking out of the show to get more programs right when they opened the door to let all of the attendees in. I felt like a salmon swimming upstream. I could not believe the mass amounts of people that were rushing excitedly into the show floor to check out the booths.

Speaking of the booths, the booths were probably what made the biggest, most immediate impression on me. I know I’m a bit of a small town girl, but when I hear the word “booth,” I picture a few pieces of plywood nailed together, kind of like the Lucy’s advice stand in Charlie Brown cartoons. Even though I’d seen our booth prior to the show, I greatly underestimated the size and creativity of the booths. I saw everything from huge metallic structures covered with electronics to relaxed lounge atmospheres. Each booth is like its own little world.

Overall, I love the energy. I love the weather. I love exploring the booths and meeting everyone. And, of course, I love having the opportunity to learn about all of the new technologies. I have to say that HITEC has been a great experience so far and I’m definitely looking forward to the next couple of days!
