AHLEI Promotes Chris Jack to Vice President, Professional Certification
Orlando, Florida, June 2011—Chris Jack, vice president of operations for the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), has added the role of vice president of professional certification to his job responsibilities.
As vice president, professional certification, Jack oversees a staff of five people who manage AHLEI’s certifications for line-level, supervisory, management, and executive positions in hospitality, as well as certifications geared toward educators and hospitality suppliers. He will work closely with the Certification Commission to ensure that the content of AHLEI’s certification programs correspond to current industry requirements. He is also tasked with carrying out new initiatives for the department, including developing industry learning paths that culminate in professional certification, and developing a web portal for current certified professionals to help them more easily track their professional development activities required to maintain their certification.
Jack has a long history with AHLEI’s professional certification department. He worked in the certification department from 1994 to 1998. He left the company, and returned in 2001 to become the organization’s assessment director. In that role, he was responsible for maintaining and upgrading AHLEI’s test item repository and overseeing the creation of exams relating to all AHLEI academic curriculum and certification options. He also worked on the creation and delivery of online assessments and professional certification exams for industry clients. That position was also responsible for project management related to learning management and student record systems.
Jack continues his duties as vice president of operations, overseeing and supporting the daily operation of all departments, staff, and processes located at AHLEI’s Lansing facility, with a particular focus on fulfillment operations, online product development, assessment systems, and customer service efforts.
Prior to working for AHLEI, Jack was a manager for an independent property. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin.
