Tim Peters Named General Manager of 139-room Nautical Beachfront Resort
in Lake Havasu City, Arizonia

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz., April 8, 2011The Nautical Beachfront Resort today announced that hotel veteran Tim Peters has been named general manager of the state’s only beachfront destination.

“Tim has more than  30 years’ hotel experience and has done an outstanding job operating our managed upscale beach resort in North Carolina, where he had a significant positive impact on improving profits and guest satisfaction scores,” said Si Sloman, principal of MJS Hotels, operators of the resort.   “Many of the innovative programs he introduced there will fit well with the major changes and upgrades planned and underway at The Nautical Beachfront Resort.”

Peters replaces Vern Porter who has left the resort to pursue other interests.  “Vern established a strong relationship between the resort and the community, and we wish him well in his new endeavors,” Sloman said.  “Tim’s job will be to build on those relationships.”

“We realize that vacations are special and people value their time off from work,” Peters said.  “My goal is to work closely with our team members to make every guest’s stay a memorable experience.  We want to offer a four-star resort level of service in a laid-back setting without the high prices, which means we will focus on service and special amenities, like the new Las Vegas-style negative edge pool that will open this summer, the Wet.  We will constantly look for ways to enhance the guest experience through physical upgrades to the resort, as well as special events and programs. We also want to build on our reputation with local residents as the resort that provides special service, experiences and great dining and entertainment options.”

Previously, Peters was general manager of Sheraton Atlantic Beach, a 200-room upscale resort on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast operated by MJS Hotels.  During his four-year tenure there, hotel guest satisfaction and profits rose substantially.  The hotel was a recognized market leader and actively involved in local community and numerous charitable events.  The Sheraton resort won numerous awards including the Bravo Award Best Hotel on the Coast from Raleigh Metro Magazine, US Chamber of Commerce Best of Atlantic Beach, and Coaster Magazine’s Reader Award Favorite Hotel.

He formerly was with John Q. Hammons, a leading hotel ownership group.  His most recent position there was general manager of the Embassy Suites in Greensboro, N.C.  Prior to that, he spent more than a decade with Beacon Hotel Corporation, operating Guest Quarters Hotels (now DoubleTree Hotels).  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Charleston.  He is a Certified Hotel Administrator and has won a number of awards for operating excellence, including General Manager of the Year and being ranked in the top 10% of hotels in the Embassy Suites system.

Located at 1000 McCulloch Blvd. N., in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., The Nautical Beachfront Resort is situated in northwestern Arizona convenient to Phoenix, Southern California and Nevada.  The property showcases the state’s only beachfront resort.  Located on Lake Havasu, fed by the Colorado River, the resort features a 50-slip marina with 1,000 feet of beach frontage.  The resort also offers the 18-hole Island Golf Club at the Nautical.

The property features private boat launch ramps and beach moorings and more than 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space in indoor and outdoor facilities capable of accommodating up to 500 guests.  The resort’s other highlights include an outdoor water park located on Lake Havasu and the newly renovated Turtle Grill and Turtle Beach Bar, a full-service, island-style restaurant and lounge featuring a tropical environment with island-inspired décor.
