Benchmark Hospitality International Completes its $20 Million Resort-Wide Renovation
of 316-room Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Colorado Springs, Colo. –April 8, 2011
–Cheyenne Mountain Resort, located in the picturesque Rocky Mountains of Colorado Springs, has completed the $20 million renovation that began in May 2010, the first ever property-wide renovation for the AAA Four Diamond resort.  Denver-based Ricca Newmark Design was hired to create the resort’s new interiors in honor of the hotel’s 25th anniversary, encompassing common areas, landscaping, guestrooms, meeting spaces and more.

The renovation commenced with the Resort’s Mountain View Restaurant Terrace, which received luxurious new Brazilian cherry wood lounge furnishings, wood slat rocking chairs and a 15 ft. custom fire pit to further enhance this large outdoor gathering area, where groups can enjoy stunning views of Cheyenne Mountain.  Other outdoor common areas, including the resort pool, Sundance Terrace, Grand Rivers Terrace, Cheyenne Kids Club space, Will Rogers Lounge and Pineview Restaurant received new furniture. Landscaping throughout the resort has been updated as well, with five new water features and upgraded stone signage.

All 38 meeting rooms featuring more than 40,000 square feet of flexible, IACC-certified space have been equipped with new carpeting, wall coverings, furnishings and state-of-the-art technology including sound systems, lighting and rear projection screens.

Each of the resort’s 316 guestrooms received new high-end custom furnishings, linens and fixtures, as well as new flooring, and the bathrooms have been completely upgraded. Guestrooms are now equipped with new top-of-the-line electronics, including flat screen televisions and iHome Mp3 clock radios. Every detail was carefully considered including the custom-designed headboards and embroidered sheer draperies, designed to highlight the resort’s stunning views.  Inspired by the vivid Colorado landscape that surrounds Cheyenne Mountain Resort, the guestroom design is a fusion of warmth, texture, luxury, and richness of color drawn from the natural surroundings. Guests will feel at home in a space that is designed with both elegance and function in mind.

Throughout Cheyenne Mountain Resort, the new design is refreshing and crisp, intended to carry the breathtaking views from the outside in, and engage guests in total immersion of the Cheyenne Mountain experience. Inspired by a mountain lodge setting with a more-residential feel, traditional furnishings are mixed with plush textiles, and dramatic nature-themed artwork. Whether visiting for a conference, family vacation or romantic getaway, Cheyenne Mountain Resort will provide a space to escape, relax and refresh, where guests will appreciate the simple elegance of the true Colorado lifestyle experience.

Cheyenne Mountain Resort is now recognized as an official Green Seal resort after earning the prestigious certification last month.  The resort fulfilled the rigorous requirements of the Green Seal Standard for Hotels and Lodging Properties – Silver.  This achievement represents the resort’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental improvement and it is one of only four properties in the state to meet the necessary requirements.

In addition, Cheyenne Mountain Resort partnered with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity ReStore to donate guestroom furniture during the renovation. The nonprofit organization will resell donated items including desks, lamps, and framed paintings, to raise money.  At an estimated value of more than $200,000, this is the largest donation in the organization’s history.  Since 2004, the Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity has built 14 homes with the proceeds from donated items.  Cheyenne Mountain Resort’s unprecedented contribution is likely to grow that number by more than three homes in 2011.
