News for the Hospitality Executive
GREENBELT, MD—April 26, 2011—Chesapeake Hospitality, an award winning, third-party hotel management firm, has announced that it will be managing the Hackerman-Patz House on the St. Joseph Medical Center campus in Towson, Md. Funded by Willard and Lillian Hackerman, the Hackerman-Patz House offers 10 guest suites reserved for St. Joseph patients and families who live outside the hospital’s service area. A unique hospitality solution, the Hackerman-Patz House provides families with an alternative to staying in hotels or traveling a long distance.
The Hackerman-Patz House is the latest addition to Chesapeake Hospitality’s growing portfolio of branded, full- and select-service hotels located throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida and Texas. Chesapeake Hospitality offers a full range of management services, including: operations, revenue management, asset management and development, and has a proven track record of successful operations in all phases of the hotel economic cycle.
“We have a strong management and operational background with leading hotel brands and we will provide the same skills and resources to run the Hackerman-Patz House,” said Kim Sims, Chesapeake Hospitality president. “Our goal in partnering with St. Joseph’s is to make sure the House is managed properly to ensure they can provide the highest level comfort to patients and families during their hospital stay.”
Thousands of patients come from outside of St. Joseph's primary service area for care, according to Monica Fulton, director of operations for St. Joseph's Cancer Institute. The Hackerman-Patz House was built to keep family members close together in times of illness and offers 10 furnished guest suites with two twin beds, a private full bath, an in-room kitchenette and a television at a rate significantly lower than a hotel stay.
