in the
last two weeks to Hotel Construction, a nationwide database of hotel
construction projects, openings, and key decision makers
(Owner/Developers,

Orleans, LA)
- 577 Ninth
Avenue Hotel (New York, NY)

- Sheraton Stamford Hotel (Stamford, CT)
- City Flats Hotel (Grand
Rapids, MI)
- Four Points by Sheraton (Augusta, GA)

construction
schedule, date of the hotel’s opening and operation, location, value,
name of
chain and franchise, number of rooms, latest developments, and key
contacts.
Service providers and products suppliers use this information to gain
access to
decision makers at the precise time they are most likely making their
purchasing decisions.
New
project reports and lists of projects with upcoming construction start
dates
and opening dates are added to the database daily. Subscriptions

March 15, 2011 (Planning/Approval)
On 3/15/11, a
representative from Barry Swenson Builder stated that the March 2011
meeting with the California Coastal Commission has been rescheduled for
August 2011. That representative also stated that Barry Swenson Builder
will be the design/build firm for this project.
February 16, 2011 (Planning/Approval)
The California Coastal
Commission will review a permit request for the project in March 2011.
February 17, 2010 (Planning/Approval)
On 2/19/10, a judge is
slated to hear arguments on a lawsuit designed to interrupt the plans
for the project.
October 7, 2009 (Planning/Approval)
The project received Santa
Cruz City Council approval in May 2009, and is now awaiting approval
from the state Coastal Commission.
August 25, 2008 (General/Other)
On 8/25/08, a
representative from the City of Santa Cruz Planning Department stated
that the project was approved by a three to two vote at the city
council meeting on 8/7/08 but was unanimously denied by the Historic
Preservation Committee. This has been a contentious issue locally and
another meeting is tentatively scheduled for 9/23/08. If approval is
granted at that point they will still need to obtain approval of a
height exception to the coastal plan by the Coastal Commission.
May 31, 2007 (Planning/Approval)
A draft environmental
impact report was released on 5/30/07, citing the proposed building's
height as an adverse impact. Tearing down the La Bahia apartments will
require a demolition permit from the city Historic Preservation Committee.
