Social Media – The Hotel Sales Tool No Property Can Ignore!

The biggest challenge for hotel sales professionals is actually integrating social media into their sales processes rather viewing social media as just one more thing to do! During an i-Meet webinar in a poll of nearly 200 planners  58% indicated that social media are important in venue selection.
 
“Interest in and usage of social media will continue to display explosive growth in terms of theoretical reach…” Peter Yesawich said in predictions for 2011. (YPartnership, 12/28/10) The universe of prospects is expanded for sales professionals through social media!

“The sales process has evolved from a linear, transactional process to a collaborative, interactive one.  The impact of social networks implies a collaborative conversation – a dialogue that leads to mutual understanding and benefit,” says Carol Verret. 

Social Media and the Meeting Planner.  If 58% of meeting planners  indicated that social media are important in venue selection which social media do they access?  What do they look for ?  Why and how to build the 360° view of the hotel and the sales team on social networks.   The advantage of property pages on social media. Why a social media page without Fans and Contacts is like a PB&J sandwich without the J!

Prospecting and Qualifying on Social Media. A professional meeting planner indicated on a recent webinar that her LinkedIn is always open as it is her primary prospecting tool.  The power of search on social media – in finding companies and the right contacts The benefit of  ‘Viewers of this profile also viewed...’ on Linked In.  How can you find the contact that plans meetings, groups or travel for the company?
 
Engaging Clients and Potential clients.   Putting the ‘social’ into social networks!  Discussion and interest  groups  -- contribute, post  comments, ask and answer questions, how to  target your posts, how often to post, what to post and why!  Becoming an influencer and using influencers on social networks.   Developing a unique ‘sales page’ on Facebook and ‘training’ clients to use it.
 
Taking the Conversation Out of the Social Media Platform.   How do you know when a potential customer is ready to take the conversation out of the social media platform?  Developing antennae for business development on social networks.  At what point do you request the contact to take the conversation off the social network and engage one on one?  Extending the relationship through the  telephone, email and personal sales calls.
 
At the end of this program, participants will understand how to incorporate social media into the their sales processes for the corporate travel and meetings market. This program should be attended by revenue managers, Directors of Sales and General Managers as well as anyone else involved in managing social media.
