February 2011 - Steven Szenasi has been named Director of Catering Sales for the 396-room, ocean front Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel announced Director of Sales Will Wiest. “I am extremely excited to have Steven join the resort’s sales team,” said Wiest. “His expertise in catering sales, weddings and special events, coupled with his tenure with Ritz-Carlton will be a valued addition to the resort,” Wiest added. With more than 17 years of hospitality experience, Szenasi has an extensive background in the industry having served as Director of Catering Sales, Director of Weddings, Catering Sales Manager and Meetings & Special Events Manager at various Ritz-Carlton’s including Denver, Bachelor Gulch and Naples. Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, he served as Catering Coordinator at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. A native of Hungary, Szenasi attended Karoly Gundel Hospitality and Culinary School in his hometown of Budapest. Upon completion, he was hired to manage a five-star cruise ship restaurant for Peter Deilmann Cruise Line in Germany. Nine years later, he moved to the United States, where he continued his education at Florida’s Edison State College, majoring in Business Administration and graduating with Honors. Embracing The Ritz-Carlton Community Footprints, Szenasi has volunteered with the Shelter for Abused Women and Children and Junior Achievement of Florida and Colorado where he taught fifth graders about business. Szenasi enjoys traveling throughout Europe when visiting his family in Hungary, honing his culinary skills and flying planes with his pilot’s license.
