Mark Weatherill Named General Manager for Starwood Hotels & Resorts
Memorial City Complex in Houston Featuring Three Brands:

The Four Points by Sheraton Houston Memorial City, Sheraton Houston West and
The Westin Houston Memorial City & Residences Opening Spring 2011

(Houston, TX – November 5, 2010) Longtime hotel executive Mark Weatherill has been named General Manger for the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Memorial City Complex featuring three distinct Starwood brands including Four Points by Sheraton Houston Memorial City, Sheraton Houston West and The Westin Houston Memorial City & Residences, opening in Spring 2011. As General Manager of all three properties, Mr. Weatherill is responsible for a staff of 300 associates, 596 keys and over 36,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space. His responsibilities include all aspects of the properties’ management ranging from guest relations, to sales, marketing, advertising, F&B operations and maintenance divisions.
 
In addition to managing day-to-day operations for the 158-room Sheraton Houston West and the 171-room Four Points by Sheraton Houston Memorial City, he is charged with supervising all pre-opening duties for the 267-room Westin Houston Memorial City. In preparation for The Westin Houston Memorial City opening, Weatherill is assembling his team, supervising opening budget costs, implementing all Starwood Hotels & Resorts procedures and policies, and working closely with the general contractor as well as each vendor to ensure all aspects of the Westin brand are correctly incorporated and implemented during construction of the hotel. Since becoming General Manager for this complex in 2007, he has earned several awards including StarVoice Hotel of the year for 2008 for the Four Points by Sheraton Houston Memorial City and 2009 Sheraton Brand Hotel of the Year for Sheraton Houston West.
 
He previously served as Director of Operations for The Westin Galleria Dallas, where he oversaw day-to-day operations for the 432-room, full service, four-star hotel; managed a team of seven department managers and 125 associates and coordinated the $95 million renovation and expansion of this property. 
 
Before relocating to Texas, Mr. Weatherill was Director of Food and Beverage for The 525-room Westin Calgary. In this position he successfully ran all daily operations for the food and beverage division and repositioned and re-launched the award winning Owls Nest Dining Room. Weatherill joined The Westin Hotel & Resorts family after spending 17 years at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel in Calgary, Canada as Hotel Manager responsible for overall operations of this 306-room, full-service, four-star hotel. While with the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel, he completed three major renovations totaling $12 million; created the award-wining Carver’s Steakhouse dining concept, which remains Calgary’s premier steakhouse; consistently exceeded annual profit margins and garnered numerous accolades including Alberta Hotel Association Housekeeping Award of Excellence for ten years, North West Commercial Traveler’s Association Hotel of the Year for five years,  ITT Sheraton President’s Club Award for Superior Customer Service for six years, consistently ranked as one of the top performing GSI hotels in North America as well as one of the top Airport Hotels for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in North America.  He began his hospitality career at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel in Saskatoon, Canada. 
 
In his twenty-six year career, Mr. Weatherill has completed four major renovations ranging from $5 million to $95 million, successfully opened three new properties on budget and time, conceived two award-winning restaurant concepts and served as Past President of the Calgary Hotel Association as well as Past Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Tourism Calgary.
