Barbara Readey Named General Manager for the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay
as it Nears Completion of a $31 million Renovation

MIAMI, Fla. - November 2010 - Barbara Readey has been named general manager of Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, which is on schedule to complete a $31 million renovation next month.

As general manager of the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, Readey’s responsibilities include operational and financial results, as well as achieving long term sustainable success through best-in-class innovative solutions. Readey joined the hotel in 2010 to manage the final phase of the property’s major renovation and will continue to enhance the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay’s reputation as a service-oriented hotel in the epicenter of Downtown Miami.

“Not a stranger to renovations, Barbara was the leader of the successful unveilings of both the Denver Marriott Tech Center and Renaissance St. Louis after their respective overhauls,” said Steve Contos, Marriott's area vice president of the Florida Region.  “With strong ties to brand strategy and sales, plus her proven track record of success for navigating through hotel transformations, Barbara is the perfect choice for the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay.”

Readey brings twenty-five years of experience in the hospitality industry to her role as general manager of Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay. She began her career in hotel management as the assistant controller of the Austin Marriott and quickly climbed the ranks after achieving stellar balanced scorecard results along the way. Most recently, she held the title of area general manager of the Denver Marriott Tech Center in Colorado, while also serving as president of the Metro Denver Hotel Association, and chairperson for the Colorado Business Council. She served as general manager at The Renaissance St. Louis Hotel, Romulus Marriott Hotel in Michigan and as director of operations at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Resort in Chicago.

After a $31 million renovation, the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay provides discerning travelers a luxe haven in the heart of Biscayne Bay. Situated in Downtown Miami, nestled between the Performing Arts and Design Districts, the hotel is complete with modern décor spread amongst 31 floors and 600 contemporary guest rooms. Amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center overlooking the bay, 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space, expansive pool and the soon to be open Catch Grill + Bar, an exclusive waterfront eatery promising a savory dining experience.
