Steigenberger Hotels Appoints Andreas Schuster as the new Steigenberger COO
Frankfurt
- December 22, 2010 -On March 1, 2011 Andreas Schuster will become the
chief operating officer (COO), in charge of the operational management
of Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts.
He will therefore be responsible for the First Class, Deluxe and
Grandhotel establishments at home and abroad. Schuster is currently the
Vice President of Operations and Business Development with the Danubius
Hotel Group.In appointing Andreas Schuster (45), the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotels AG has selected as their chief operating officer a hotel expert with international experience. In his role as COO, Schuster will be responsible for the operation of 46 hotels in five countries, including flagship hotels such as the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof in Frankfurt, the Steigenberger Parkhotel in D�sseldorf and the Steigenberger Belv�d�re in Davos, Switzerland. Andreas Schuster trained in Hotel Management, then worked in Switzerland before gaining experience in Austria, Bermuda and China. In 1996 he moved to Hungary where he took up the position of Director of Operations for the InterContinental, Budapest. In 1998 Schuster was appointed General Manager of the Forum Hotel in Vienna. This was followed by further management roles; first at the Corinthia Aquincum Hotel in Budapest and then at the Corinthia Alfa Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal. In April 2005 he moved across to the Danubius Hotel Group, which is based in Budapest. Here, as Acting Group Director of Operations, Andreas Schuster initially took on responsibility for the 56 hotels operated by the company before being promoted after a year to the role of Vice-President of Operations and Business Development. Schuster is a board member of the Danubius Hotel Group subsidiary, SLKP, which also operates hotels. "His many years of expertise in operative matters and his international experience will enable Andreas Schuster to provide the best possible support for our company as it grows", explained Arco Buijs, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG. The Steigenberger hotel company was owned by the Steigenberger family for almost 80 years. Since September 2009 the hotel company has had a new majority shareholder in the Egyptian tourism entrepreneur Hamed El Chiaty, owner of the Travco Group. Travco Group is the largest tourism company in Egypt and a leading player in the Middle East. The Travco Group comprises 57 hotels under the brand names Jaz, Iberotel and Sol y Mar, 22 Nile cruise ships under the brand names Travcotels and Iberotel as well as a complete range of tourism services.
 Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof Am Kaiserplatz 60311 Frankfurt/Main Germany Steigenberger Hotels AG, based in Frankfurt, currently operates 81 hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands and Egypt. The umbrella brand of the Steigenberger Hotel Group covers two individual brands: Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts, with 50 Upscale and Luxury Hotels, and InterCityHotel with 31 hotels in the upper mid-range.
