Marriott International Signs Management Agreement with Sanding Holding Co. Ltd.
for Development of  281-room Yiwu Marriott Hotel in China's Zhejiang Province



December 9, 2010 -Marriott International continues its aggressive expansion in China with the signing of a management agreement with Sanding Holding Group Co., Ltd. for a 281-room deluxe Marriott-branded hotel in Yiwu that is planned to open in 2014.

When opened, the Yiwu Marriott Hotel will be situated at the juncture of Shangcheng and Futian Roads in close proximity of the International Trade City. It will be the first Marriott International-branded hotel in the city and will offer the largest guest rooms, the largest ballroom and the largest function space in the city. The European Union, United States, the United Arab Emirates and Russia are the top travel generators to Yiwu.

“After establishing a solid presence in China’s major coastal cities, we’re excited by our continued expansion into the country’s secondary and tertiary cities,” said Simon Cooper, Marriott International’s president and managing director for the Asia-Pacific Region. “We’re confident that the hotel’s superb location and quality of design coupled with the local government’s active promotion of the city as the top MICE destination in Zhejiang Province, will contribute strongly to the Yiwu Marriott quickly becoming the hotel of choice for domestic and international visitors to the city.”

Accommodations at the Yiwu Marriott will feature contemporary furnishings and amenities that will enable guests to work and relax in comfort

Dining and entertainment options will be comprised of a three-meal restaurant with a permanent buffet; a Chinese food outlet with 22 private dining rooms, 11 of which will be located at the hotel’s top floor offering views of the city and park below; and a specialty restaurant. The welcoming lobby lounge will be integrated into the hotel’s lobby area and will change character throughout the day and evening, encouraging guests to linger over the beverage of their choice and to hold impromptu social gatherings with friends and colleagues.

Business travel amenities will include an executive level and lounge that will offer a private meeting room and a business center that will have two separate meeting rooms.

Recreational amenities will include an indoor swimming pool and a health club with state-of-the-art equipment. Rounding out the hotel’s amenities will be a gift shop.

For social events and conferences, the hotel’s 1,410 square meters of function space will include an 850-square meter grand ballroom that will be divisible into three sections; three individual meeting rooms in varying configurations that will also be divisible into sections and a 70-square meter board room.
