Known as Colorado’s Favorite Front Porch, Grand Lake Lodge,
Acquired by Grand Lake Ventures, LLC; to Reopen as a Full-Service Resort

Regency Hotel Management Selected as Operator

Grand Lake, Grand Lake, CO (Dec 2010). Historic Grand Lake Lodge will reopen as a full-service resort in June 2011.  On December 21, 2010, Grand Lake Ventures, L.L.C. purchased Grand Lake Lodge and hired Regency Hotel Management to manage all operations, including sales and marketing of the resort.  Visitors can now make cabin and special event reservations for summer 2011 by calling 855-585-0004.  Information is available online at www.grandlakelodge.com.  For the past four years, the Lodge’s restaurant and bar were the only facilities open.  In June 2011, Regency will have all 56 cabins, restaurant and bar, and all recreational activities open for tourism business.  “On behalf of our membership, I am pleased to welcome Regency Hotel Management and General Manager Jeff Larson to the Town of Grand Lake.  The Grand Lake Lodge is iconic and the sale of it makes this a very exciting time for the Town of Grand Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, and our neighboring communities“ said Lisa Jenkins, Executive Director of the Grand County Chamber of Commerce.

When guests arrive this summer 2011, they will see a sampling of the future improvements to the cabins and other resort facilities. Regency Hotel Management is formulating a timetable for enhancements that will take place over the next few years.  Grand Lake Lodge has 56 cabins offering varying sleeping capacities of two to six people in the individual family cabins and ten to 25 in the two larger cabins.  Grand Lake Lodge is recognized as one of the top ten wedding destinations in America.   “We are so excited to reopen Grand Lake Lodge,” said Gloriann Kueter, Director of Sales and Marketing at Regency Hotel Management.  “Being part of the Rocky Mountain National Park tourism business is a real pleasure, and it will be awesome to welcome past guests and introduce new guests to the Lodge next summer,” said Kueter.

Known as Colorado’s Favorite Front Porch, Grand Lake Lodge was built in 1920.  When Trail Ridge Road, the ‘World’s Highest Continuous Paved Highway, was completed in 1932, tourism increased dramatically; and Grand Lake Lodge became one of the most famous guest Lodges in Colorado.  Grand Lake Lodge is known for its unrivaled views of Colorado’s largest natural lake and panoramic views of the Continental Divide and Rocky Mountain National Park.  One of the large cabins at the Lodge is named after one of its most prestigious guests, Henry Ford, after his stay in 1927.

Grand Lake Lodge is a full-service resort that specializes in fun for everyone.  Lodge guests will again have an abundant choice of recreational activities:  outdoor pool, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, a children’s playground, picnic area with charcoal grills, and an indoor recreation room complete with board and video games, ping pong and a pool table.   Plus, guests can go horseback riding, leaving right from the resort.  If golf is your game, Grand Lake Golf Course, a scenic 18-hole championship golf course, is surrounded by Arapaho National Forest land that provides golfers with a backdrop of the Never Summer Range.  And just 30 minutes from Grand Lake Lodge is the award-winning Pole Creek Golf Course.  In 1984 Golf Digest named this course the “Best New Public Course of the Year.”  Since then, the magazine has twice named it the “Best Public Golf Course in Colorado.”

Regency has an excellent record in operating resorts of this kind.  In 2006 Regency was awarded the Custer State Park concessionaire agreement by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department, and has partnered with the Department to improve all facilities at the Park, www.custerresorts.comHotel Business consistently ranks Regency Hotel Management and its affiliates as one of the Top 100 Management Companies.  The company was formed in 1965, and currently owns and manages more than 50 properties in 19 states.  Regency operates under various franchises, including Starwood, IHG, Radisson, Marriott, ClubHouse and Best Western. With more than 6,000 employees, Regency has a superb employment base of trained professionals to meet the challenges of the growing hospitality industry.
