New York - December, 2010-- Andrea Kracht, sixth-generation owner of Zurich's renowned Hotel Baur au Lac, has been named Chairman of the Executive Committee of The Leading Hotels of the World, it was announced recently in Tokyo at the organization's annual convention. The Baur au Lac has been a member of The Leading Hotels of the World since 1974, and Mr. Kracht formerly served as the Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the organization.
Formed in 1928, The Leading Hotels of the World represents the industry's largest collection of luxury hotels, resorts and spas, with over 450 properties in 80 countries. Only the world's most distinguished properties are admitted, and each one must meet stringent standards with respect to accommodations, service, cuisine, employee behavior and facilities.

About the Baur au Lac: Recently voted 'Top Hotel in Zurich' by Condé Nast Traveler readers (November 2010), the Baur au Lac has been owned and operated by the same family since it opened in 1844. The General Manager, Michel Rey, shares a long history with the hotel as well, having taken over for his father, Georges Rey, more than 26 years ago. The hotel recently completed an approximately $41 million renovation, revamping its Pavillon and Terrasse restaurants as well as various rooms and suites.
