Update to Intercontinental Hotels Group’s New High Speed Internet
Brand Standards with No Capital Expenses

September 21, 2010 - Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced new property compliance standards for High-Speed Internet Access. The new High Speed Internet Guest Service standards take effect January 31, 2011, and require hotels to upgrade certain hardware and reconfigure servers and switches. Resource Technology Management (RTM) is making it easy and affordable for hotels to update to Intercontinental Hotels Group’s new High-Speed Internet requirements with No Capital Expenses*.

The new compliance standards include the following requirements and adjustments:
  • Minimum Bandwidth Requirement: 7.5 m consisting of 1 – 1.5 T-1 access and 6.0m bandwidth which can be cable or other telecom provider.
  • Bandwidth Bonding Server: This device has multiple inputs for bandwidth sources and manages the guest demand for Internet Access. This is not the same device as the HSIA gateway.
  • Battery Backup Requirement: The HSIA gateway and managed switches are required to have battery backup power sources.
  • Managed Switches: Switches must have the remote capability to manage SNMP, Vlan support and port protection.
  • 100% room Coverage: 100% coverage is now required.
  • Guest Log In & Password: The guest is required to log into the HSIA servers with a password for use.
  • Public space & Meeting Rooms: 100% coverage is now required for wireless coverage.
  • Bandwidth Management: Shaping required for guest satisfaction.
  • 24 x  7 x 365 Guest Support is included.
Working with new Clients, Resource Technology Management will perform these upgrades and updates for hotels, with no capital expense*.
