Starwood Hotels & Resorts Opens W New York - Downtown
During W New York - Downtown’s search for new employees, over 13,791 applicants turned up in hopes of landing one of the nearly 200 coveted job openings, which include: Whatever/Whenever Agents, Style Supervisors, Food and Beverage and Welcome Ambassadors.
The Opening of W New York – Downtown marks another step forward in the plan of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) to introduce 12,000 new jobs to the global workforce in 2010. Starwood and its development partners are slated to open 80-100 new hotels this year, half of which will span U.S. markets from New York to California. New York is one of its strongest markets, with roughly one in four new hotel rooms to be branded Starwood in 2010 as the company grows its footprint by 50% this year.
W New York - Downtown’s employees, referred to as “talent” in the innovative W vernacular, wrapped up their 10-day training schedule to prepare for the hotel opening. An exciting schedule of events and downtown discovery greeted the “talented” as they were introduced to W’s world of WOW.
