Aimbridge Hospitality Launches Resort Division

Sagicor Pooled Investment Funds Selects Company to Manage
The Jewel Beach Resort and Spa in Jamaica, Formerly the Sandals Dunn's River Resort

DALLAS, Texas (July 26, 2010)
– Aimbridge Hospitality announced its entrance into the resorts sector as the company has been chosen to manage The Jewel Beach Resort and Spa, located in Mammee Bay, St. Ann, Jamaica, outside of Ocho Rios. The hotel, owned by Sagicor Pooled Investment Funds, is the former Sandals Dunn's River Resort. The hotel is currently undergoing an extensive makeover, which will include new room products as well as new technology and flat screen TV's, and is expected to reopen in fall 2010.

Senior Vice President of Caribbean Development Rich Cortese has been chosen to operate the property and brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the hotel industry.  Prior to Aimbridge, he was most recently Executive Vice President of Caribbean Property Group (CPG), where he had both management and asset management responsibilities of the company’s $750 million hotel portfolio, which included the Ritz Carlton San Juan, the Marriott Aruba, the Radisson San Juan a Marriott Courtyard portfolio and an independent hotel in San Juan, The Normandie. He was also Senior Vice President of Operations of Atlantis Paradise Island when Atlantis in the Bahamas opened. Cortese will be an integral part of Aimbridge Hospitality’s entrance into the resorts division.

"We are thrilled to enter the resort business with such a stellar property,” said Dave Johnson, President and CEO of Aimbridge Hospitality. “We are very excited to create a stronger presence in the Caribbean and Mexico resort markets, and working with Rich Cortese ensures an immediate and effective launch for Aimbridge into the Caribbean.”

Carol Bourke, The Jewel Beach Resort and Spa’s new managing director, brings with her several years of hotel management experience in Jamaica and aims to maintain the excellent quality of service that the hotel has been noted for throughout the past twenty years. She also plans to create an ambiance for couples at The Jewel that cannot be matched at other properties in Jamaica.

The property will feature four themed a la carte restaurants, a nine-hole "pitch and putt" golf course, 20 acres of lush gardens and the hotel’s unmatched Diamond Club Service, which will feature private butler service and 24-hour concierge services. A pool concierge service will also be added, and the spa, gym and all of the restaurants and bars will be reinvented and rebranded.
