Smart Meetings Magazine Expands

Leading Industry Resource Extends Editorial
Coverage and Event Calendar



Sausalito, Calif. (October 20, 2010) – Smart Meetings magazine, the industry’s premier resource for meeting professionals, is completing a year of exceptional growth—at a time when other meetings publications are downsizing or folding.

Due to high reader demand, last August the magazine expanded its editorial coverage from the 14 Western states, Western Canada and Mexico to include the East, South, Midwest, Eastern Canada and the Caribbean. This now provides its 40,000 national readers with in-depth destination coverage on a broader level, all in one monthly magazine.

The success of its live events—both the one-day Smart Mart and three-day Smart Meeting—has also led to an expansion in 2011 to 12 events, located in major destination cities throughout the U.S. These exclusive events match planners with hoteliers for one-on-one appointments in an intimate setting that’s conducive to networking and booking business on-site.

An industry trendsetter from its inception, the magazine’s website, smartmeetings.com, underwent a redesign last summer, offering meeting professionals the most user-friendly interface in its competitive set, a comprehensive database to match its expansion and a free, easy-to-use RFP tool, among other technologically advanced features. 

Additionally, in the past year, the company has doubled the size of its office space, grown its in-house staff and added regional sales managers in the Midwest and South to support its present and future expansions.
