Andrés Sanhueza Named GM of Hotel Matilda
in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, August 10, 2010  �  Hotel Matilda has announced that Andrés Sanhueza has taken the reins as General Manager of this iconoclastic boutique hotel in San Miguel de Allende that will open its doors on September 15, 2010. 

Mr. Sanhueza assumes responsibility for this cutting-edge hotel, located in the heart of the 500-year-old historic center of Mexico�s most revered colonial town, that will be a �living art gallery� catering to the lifestyle of today�s international traveler.

He comes to Hotel Matilda with 13 years of hospitality experience in Mexico and his native Chile. Most recently, he was part of the opening team for the W Hotel Santiago, Chile, where he served as assistant food and beverage director.  Previously, he was director of food and beverage at Casa Sierra Nevada, the Orient Express Hotel in San Miguel de Allende, and at Valle Nevado Ski Resort, Chile. Additional experience includes:  director of restaurants, Hotel Carrera, a Leading Hotel of the World in Santiago, Chile;  and head butler/food & beverage operational manager as part of the opening team for the San Cristobal Tower Luxury Collection & Sheraton Santiago, Chile.

At Hotel Matilda, guests will be immersed in a relaxed and sophisticated setting of refined and comfortable accommodations, international gourmet dining, personalized spa experiences and a dynamic art scene. 

The crown jewel of colonial Mexico, San Miguel de Allende is a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its intact Spanish architecture and art schools that draw budding artists from many countries. San Miguel de Allende is located in the central highlands of Mexico about a 3.5-hour drive from Mexico City. Continental Airlines and Mexicana Airlines fly from Houston Intercontinental, and American Airlines from Dallas/Fort Worth International, to Leon/Guanajuato Airport;  the flights are about  2.5 hours. From Leon/Guanajuato Airport it�s a 1.5- hour drive to San Miguel de Allende. Hotel Matilda can arrange airport transportation.
