Teri and Andrew Nowak Embrace their Entrepreneurial Spirit,
Acquire the St. Georges Caye Resort in Belize

Family leaves Oregon to follow their dream of running Belize resort

ST. GEORGES CAYE, Belize May 12, 2010 When Teri Nowak was a guest at St. Georges Caye Resort almost five years ago, she had no idea she and her husband Andrew would soon purchase the resort and later move to Belize full-time to manage operations.  With their son Nick and business partner Ron Herring now onboard, St. George's Caye Resort is once again positioned to become one of Belize's premier boutique resorts.

When our daughter Nadia suggested a family dive vacation in 2005, we challenged her to find the ideal resort, says Teri.  After scouring the internet, St. George's Caye Resort was her choice and once we visited, we all completely fell in love with the place.  We love the beauty of the surrounding sea, the peace, the sense of tranquility.

Adventurers at heart, Teri and Andrew Nowak have always embraced their entrepreneurial spirits.  After graduating from Yale University and spending almost three years in Brazil with the Peace Corps, Andrew found himself back in the U.S., venturing into the hydraulics and pneumatics business.  For over 35 years, he created innovative solutions in this field, securing several patents along the way.  Additionally, Andrew pursued his love of sailing by investing in yacht dealerships along the west coast and in Hawaii. Teri created her own success by developing products such as wine and tote bags, as well as plastic bag holders and bringing them to the mass market. Teri and her daughter also started a self-publishing business after the rescue of a Hummingbird near their home inspired a childrens book.

When retirement proved too slow of a pace for Andrew, he realized he needed to reconnect with the passions from his youth, including diving.  This was when the family embarked on their vacation to St. Georges and after extending his stay and speaking at length with the existing management, Andrew decided his next business venture would be to run a resort.

After several years of being off premise, weve realized that wed be much happier running the resort ourselves, states Andrew.  Were thrilled our son Nick has decided to join us as well in this new chapter of our lives.  Where better to have a business than in paradise?
