Benchmark Hospitality International Appoints Barry Anderson
Regional Vice President Sales & Marketing


 
The Woodlands (Houston), Texas, May 2010 … Benchmark Hospitality International has named Barry Anderson regional vice president sales & marketing for the leading, privately-held hospitality management company.  Ted Davis, Benchmark’s vice president sales & marketing, made the announcement. 
 
"We welcome Barry to Benchmark Hospitality International," said Mr. Davis.  "He comes to our company with senior-level sales & marketing expertise across major hotel brands, as well as extensive industry contacts, which will serve him well in his new position.”
 
Prior to joining Benchmark Hospitality, Barry Anderson was principle for Anderson Hospitality Advisory Services, a company he launched in 2008, which provided sales, marketing and branding expertise to clients throughout the hospitality industry.  Previous to this, Mr. Anderson served as vice president sales & marketing for Ginn Hotels and Resorts, responsible for the company’s properties in Florida and the Bahamas.  While in this position, Anderson established a highly successful central reservations office for the brand.
 
For over a decade, Mr. Anderson served as vice president sales & marketing for the Peabody Hotel Group, overseeing a collection of 11 luxury hotels and resorts.  In this role, he was instrumental in establishing a system-wide central reservations center and was active in hotel acquisitions, as well as brand positioning initiatives for the company.  For several years, Mr. Anderson also held property-level sales and marketing responsibilities for the Peabody Orlando, in addition to his corporate role.  
 
Earlier in his career, Anderson served in sales & marketing leadership positions for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts Corporation at properties located in Virginia, Kentucky, Hawaii and California.  
 
Barry Anderson was the first sales & marketing executive to serve on the Board of Directors for Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.  He has held leadership roles within the Preferred organization and the Orlando / Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau.  Mr. Anderson has led award-winning sales, marketing and public relations teams throughout his career.  He is a past Director of Sales & Marketing of the Year for Hyatt Hotels, and has served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Central Florida School of Hospitality Management.  Anderson is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration.  He is relocating to The Woodlands with his family.
