Starwood Hotels Awards The Westin Galleria Dallas as
“North America Westin Hotel of the Year”

 
DALLAS, Texas (April 26, 2010) – Starwood Hotels announced today that The Westin Galleria Dallas has been awarded “Starwood North America 2009 Westin Hotel of the Year.”  The Starwood North America Excellence Awards take place every spring, and the “Hotel of the Year” award is presented to each of Starwood Hotel’s eight hotel brands.

The best of each hotel brand is selected by reviewing the properties’ Guest Satisfaction Index, Quality Assurance and Sales and Marketing Branding.  Starwood Hotels then presents the award to the hotels that best demonstrate lodging excellence.   The Westin Galleria Dallas stood out specifically in its consistently above average guest satisfaction scores, as measured by Maritz from Starwood Hotels nationwide.

The Westin Galleria Dallas, located within the impressive Galleria shopping center with over 200 shops, restaurants and attractions, has had 26 consecutive years of AAA 4-diamond awards-the longest 4-diamond run in Dallas.  The hotel will begin planning an official celebration for both honors with their associates in late April and will also tie in its one year anniversary of the renovation of the hotel.

“Last year, we completed a two-year multi-million dollar renovation covering all areas of the hotel,” said Everett.  “The guestrooms were transformed and expanded to incorporate a more contemporary and sophisticated look and feel.  New noise-resistant and energy-efficient glass windows were installed, and artwork created by Texas Big Bend photography favorite James H. Evans now adorns the rooms.”

The unique residential ambiance of the entire hotel involved famed designer Marcel Wanders’ Cappellini Big Shadows podium light fixtures, which are showcased in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.    Re-igniting the synergy as part of the Galleria Complex, British fashion designer Paul Smith created the fabric for the ottomans in the public space and Hella Jongerius, who is regarded as one of the most innovative and creative designers working today, designed the fabrics in the new luxury suites.

The renovation also included the transformation of the 21st floor into a new executive lounge, as well as unique sky rooms where guests will enjoy a phenomenal view of the Dallas skyline from the most traveled intersection in the city.  The hotel introduced signature in-room spa treatments that cater to guests’ rejuvenation and well-being, and an expanded Westin WORKOUT was added in order to further enhance the guest experience and support the Westin renewal philosophy of delivering a complete sensory experience of rejuvenation and tranquility.  Each of the hotel’s fully-renovated spacious guest rooms offers Westin's signature Heavenly Bed® and a 100% smoke-free environment.
