Best Western Promotes Ron Pohl to Senior Vice President,
Brand Management and Member Services

PHOENIX--April 28, 2010--Best Western International (www.bestwestern.com) today announced the promotion of Ron Pohl to senior vice president, brand management and member services. In this new role, Pohl will oversee North American development in addition to managing a number of key departments including customer care, member care, education and training, revenue management and international quality assurance. He also serves on the company’s executive committee and leads its Brand Management Team.
Pohl, who brings nearly 30 years of industry experience to the position, most recently served as a vice president, where he led a cross-department team to roll out a comprehensive training campaign to help Member hotels weather the economic crisis.

“In the three years Ron has worked with Best Western, he’s truly proven his passion, dedication and commitment to the brand and our hoteliers, helping elevate our chain to the leadership position it holds today,” said David Kong, Best Western’s president and CEO. “His diverse hospitality background combined with deep experience in hotel management have earned him the returns he deserves, and we’re fortunate to have him serve in this new role.”

Pohl joined Best Western in 2007 as vice president of operations. During his tenure, he significantly improved the Customer Care department by implementing the Best Western I Care program and a uniform survey system for Best Western properties, resulting in increased customer satisfaction scores and dramatically reduced complaints. Pohl reports directly to Kong.

Prior to joining Best Western, Pohl spent more than 20 years with Boykin Management Company, a respected hotel management firm based in Cleveland. While there, he served in a number of senior-level positions in the areas of operations, marketing, sales and revenue management.

Pohl earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Akron and also holds Certified Hotel Administrator and Certified Rooms Director designations.
