Knowland Hires Brian Marriott as Director of Communications
Former presidential appointee
brings proven record to innovative
business development firm
Salisbury, MD, 03/15/10 � The
Knowland Group, a leading provider of business development solutions
for the global hospitality industry, has recently hired Brian Marriott
as Director of Communications. Marriott will lead the communications department
in developing and implementing strategies to promote Knowland�s innovative
collection of professional business development software, services and
methodologies.
Marriott comes to Knowland with over 15 years of experience in media relations, public speaking, and strategic communications. Previously he served as a presidential appointee in the Federal Communications Commission, working as a special assistant for media relations to Michael Powell, Chairman of the FCC. In this role he led the commission�s public affairs program, including relations with the public, press, Congress, and other government agencies. He later was the national director for publicity and media relations for AARP, acting as their national spokesperson. Most recently, Marriott worked in the DC office of the global consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. �We are very pleased to have Brian head our communications department,� said Knowland Group CEO Michael K. McKean. �His extensive experience with all types of communications will serve Knowland well as we present new and innovative business development processes, tools and techniques to the global hospitality industry, particularly when it comes to group or event bookings.� Marriott received his Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Northwest Missouri State University and has extensive experience as communications director on multiple high-level political campaigns.
