Nabil Moubayed and Denise Schultz Appointed General Manager
Director of Sales and Marketing Respectively at Kimpton's
Hotel Palomar Chicago
CHICAGO Ė January 6, 2010 Ė Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is pleased to announce General Manager Nabil Moubayed and Director of Sales and Marketing Denise Schultz to the executive team of the Hotel Palomar Chicago. Moubayed, an active member of the Chicago hospitality industry, and Schultz, a Midwest native, bring nearly 30 years of combined experience to the new boutique hotel. Set to open spring 2010 in Chicagoís River North neighborhood as Kimptonís fourth Windy City property, the 261-room hotel features an indoor rooftop pool, an eco-friendly green roof and an ďArt in MotionĒ theme.
As general manager, Moubayed will be responsible for all daily operations of the hotel. No stranger to Kimpton, Moubayed most recently held the general manager position for more than five years at Kimptonís award-winning Hotel Monaco Chicago. Moubayed has been extremely influential in Kimptonís EarthCare program, and has also spearheaded the Green Seal certification for all of Kimptonís Chicago properties. A Toronto native, Moubayedís hotel career began with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts as operations manager at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in San Francisco. He rose to the role of general manager at various Wyndham hotels in Chicago and several city suburbs, as well as New Orleans and Denver, during his six-year tenure with the company.
An active member of the Chicago business community, Moubayed sits on the board of the Chicago Loop Alliance, Chicago Workforce Center for the Service Industries and Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association. He is also a member of the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau, the prestigious Cornell Hotel Society and the Kendall College Hospitality Advisory Board. Moubayed holds a masterís degree in hospitality management from Cornell Universityís School of Hotel Administration and a bachelorís degree from the University of Western Ontario. He is fluent in both German and French.
Schultz, a key player of the opening team, will provide an invaluable mix of Midwest knowledge and industry experience spanning more than 12 years. Schultz will oversee all sales and marketing activities, including group and leisure sales, catering, and public relations.
Most recently, Schultz served as the director of sales and marketing at the Radisson Plaza Hotel Minneapolis. Previous positions include more than six years in sales with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts in Illinois, culminating with her role as associate director of group sales at the Wyndham Northwest Chicago. Schultz began her hospitality career with White Lodging Services in Merrillville, IN, managing sales and food and beverage operations. She earned her bachelorís degree from the University of Wisconsin.
The Hotel Palomar Chicago will be courting meetings, weddings and social events with 5,800 total square feet of event space, including a 2,555 square-foot ballroom accented by gold tones, inconceivably tall ceilings with dramatic chandeliers, and a separate pre-function area with an ornamental staircase. For groups with green on their mind, the hotel operates with more than 80 eco-friendly practices as part of Kimptonís brand-wide EarthCare program, and offers Green Meetings, a Kimpton standard that ensures 12 eco-friendly features at every meeting.
