Jan. 6, 2010--EL PASO -- The Artisan Hotel in Las Vegas, owned by the man who owns and operates the Artisan Hotel in Downtown El Paso, is being foreclosed on by a lender, court documents show. Lawyers for Douglas Da Silva also asked a U.S. bankruptcy court judge in Las Vegas last week to let the El Paso Artisan Hotel continue operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The court document said the Artisan in Las Vegas defaulted on its loan and it consents to its bankruptcy being converted to Chapter 7 liquidation or dismissing the bankruptcy case. A court hearing is set for Wednesday on the issue of converting the bankruptcies to Chapter 7. The court last month let Garrett Capital foreclose on the Las Vegas hotel because Da Silva, and his wife, Ninette, defaulted on a hotel loan. A foreclosure sale date is set for Jan. 15. ----- To see more of the El Paso Times, or to subscribe to the newspaper, go to http://www.elpasotimes.com.
