The City of Amarillo, Texas Searching for a Convention-Hotel
Developer for Public-private Partnership
CHICAGO, IL, January 29, 2010 The City of Amarillo, Texas is currently seeking a development team to design and construct a downtown convention center hotel of between 250 and 300 rooms. This Request for Qualifications comes after a multi-phase market and financial feasibility study, set of recommendations, and financing analysis for the project conducted over the past two years. Hunden Strategic Partners is working with the City to conduct the search and review qualifications from developers to design and construct the project. Any firm interested in getting more information about the RFQ or in submitting a response must contact and register in writing with the Citys Purchasing Department by fax at: 806-378-9494 or by email at: [email protected] The RFQ, related reports and other data are available for download from www.hundenpartners.com The City will host a site visit and pre-proposal meeting February 18, followed by a submittal deadline of March 9. Like most convention hotel projects, a public-private partnership will likely be formed to create the optimal funding package that limits City risk and maximizes the return to the community. A number of funding options have been identified and quantified and we look to the topranked developer to work with the City in assembling the optimal financing package, said Rob Hunden, President of Hunden Strategic Partners. The Amarillo hotel market has weathered the recession remarkably well and the downtown is long overdue for this hotel to complement the Civic Center. The project is to be located in downtown Amarillo, across the street
from the Civic Center and next to the Globe-News Center for the Performing
Arts.
