The much anticipated opening of the Holiday Inn Northwest/Sea World
Area
in San Antonio, Texas, has been announced by Leo Spriggs,
president/CEO of Hospitality Management Corporation (HMC).
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Texas' Greenest Hotel, the Holiday Inn Northwest, was held on Wednesday, October 7th, in San Antonio. Business representatives and media alike were in attendance to welcome the first Holiday Inn, and also the first Texas hotel, to pursue LEED certification. Attendees included the North Chamber San Antonio Chamber of Commerce; Marty Wender, developer of Westover Hills; District 6 staff; the Texas Fuel, America's First Green Team; along with Shamu from Sea World. Marshall S. Tullos, CHA, General Manager of the all new Holiday Inn Northwest/SeaWorld Area, is pleased to be opening San Antonio's most innovative green hotel. "We are so pleased to join the San Antonio community in the Westover Hills area. This is the first full-service Holiday Inn to be built in San Antonio in over 25 years. Our eco-friendly hotel is distinct among Holiday Inns in innovation and style, and distinct in San Antonio with our aggressive green initiatives." The hotel features 194 guest rooms including 10 suites and 20 ADA rooms. The Holiday Inn is a full-service hotel with a hill country resort theme offering 6,000 square feet of function space and three food and beverage outlets including Sporting News Grill. Sporting News Grill is a high energy bar and grill with 19 - 50" televisions that will broadcast all major sporting events throughout the year. There are four water areas in the hotel including an indoor pool, outdoor heated pool, hot tub, and children's pool. Guests will enjoy the extensive fitness center and showers. A Green Touch Screen is located in the lobby to educate guests on how to be more green during their stay and beyond. Advancements also include initiatives in the Food & Beverage department to feature local growers and wineries and supporting eco-friendly distributers.
