Webinar: Outlooks for Successful Online Merchandising in 2010, November 12th, 2009, 2:00pm Eastern

Complimentary webinar on what smart hoteliers are doing to extract more value out of their
hotel’s presence online in the year ahead with speakers
Henry Harteveldt from Forrester Research and Edward Perry from WORLDHOTELS.

TONROTO, ON; November 2, 2009 - It’s that time again - time to start planning your online merchandising strategy for next year. One area in which most hoteliers plan to increase their online budgets in 2010 is on content. In fact, when polled during our last webinar, The Five Pillars of Success in Travel eBusiness, 47% of attendees stated that they expect their budgets for content to increase, 41% don’t expect any change and only 12% expect their budget for content to decrease in 2010. If asked the same question at this time last year when the economy was tanking and budget cutbacks were rampant, responses would likely have been the opposite.

Over the course of 2009, hoteliers have faced the challenge of providing value to thrifty online travel shoppers. According to Forrester Research, 38% of guests avoid staying at hotels because they don’t see photos, video or written content that would make them feel comfortable. What has come out of this is a realization that online content plays a big part in conveying value and generating bookings.

With the economy expected to start recovering in 2010, hoteliers are presented with an opportunity to come out of the recession strong and be at the forefront when corporate and leisure travel begins to pick up pace. In order to succeed, hoteliers need to build an effective, coordinated merchandising plan for 2010 that sets a foundation for the upward journey to prosperity.
