InnPoints Worldwide Hotels See 15.4% Increase
Year Over Year Despite Recession
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — DECEMBER 11, 2009 — Despite troubled times in 2009, InnPoints Worldwide, provider of reservation marketing and electronic distribution solutions for hotels, has seen an overall increase within its hotel client portfolio. Both room night and reservation volume has increased year over year despite the recession.
Year over year, InnPoints hotels saw an overall reservation volume increase of 15.4% for 2009. The number of room nights per reservation also increased by over 5%. For the month of November 2009, the InnPoints portfolio’s reservation volume was up 20.3% over November 2008. While LOS and ADR were both down from this time last year, InnPoints hotels combated the market’s overall trending decrease.
In 2009, InnPoints account managers focused on persuading their hotel clients to apply a number of price and promotion initiatives in order to find a formula that held for their specific niche as consumer behavior patterns changed. Implementation of aggressive pricing strategies and discount OTA promotions significantly impacted the success of many InnPoints properties during the downturn. For example, experiments with reduction in rates yielded significant revenue gains with overall increased reservation volume for the mid-scale (without F&B) segment.
Included in this year’s reservation growth were a number of hotels and hotel groups that switched to InnPoints over the last year. All new InnPoints clients complete a comprehensive training and strategic planning process with expert guidance from the implementations team. Channel production growth and channel marketing strategies are closely monitored by a dedicated account manager to ensure maximum results from day one.
The New Victorian Inns, a group of five Nebraska hotels, switched to InnPoints in March of 2009. "During the first 5 months after switching to InnPoints, our revenue increased by over 80%, while the commissions we paid decreased by over 50% year over year,” said Vincent A. Hoehne, Controller for the New Victorian Hotel Group. “InnPoints' customer service is excellent and our advisor is very knowledgeable in how to increase revenue."
With the underlying success of InnPoints hotel portfolio in 2009 came significant developments in the company’s core technologies. Under the guidance of InnPoints new President and CEO, Dr. Randall Reviere, the company’s technology has been fast-tracked for the most advanced enhancements. “Now, more than ever, our hotel clients are relying on us to guide them through the difficult path of electronic distribution with industry-leading tools. Our company focus has always been superior customer service, and clients are beginning to see the additional benefits of our technology investments as we deliver a high efficiency technology toolkit,“ said Dr. Reviere.
