News for the Hospitality Executive |
AUSTIN, TEXAS, USA (July 16, 2009) — With budgets
tight and spending minimal, it can be hard to find the funding for
continuing education, which is essential to surviving difficult
economic times. To combat those hurdles, Hospitality Financial and
Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is offering a New
to Industry Education Scholarship for HFTP's 2009
Annual Convention & Tradeshow . The selected recipient of this
scholarship is eligible to receive a limited travel expense
reimbursement and one full conference complimentary registration to
attend the convention. "The New to Industry Education Scholarship is a unique opportunity for those starting their career in the industry to get acquainted with the biggest issues in the industry, which are discussed at HFTP conferences," said Frank Wolfe, CAE, CEO of HFTP. "We want them to start off their career in the right direction — with quality education and networking — so that they can succeed in the industry for years to come." All HFTP members that have been in the hospitality industry less than three years and currently work for a hospitality organization, such as lodging, food and beverage, and recreational services are eligible to apply. The application includes two essay questions and requires two letters of recommendation — one from a boss and one from a colleague. HFTP awarded a similar scholarship earlier this year for the 2009 Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®). “The New to Industry HITEC Scholarship contributed significantly to my understating of hospitality technology by providing an opportunity to see the latest trends in hospitality technology, meet vendors that could offer solutions and network with peers. I was able to ask questions and seek advice from industry professionals and informed vendors,” said Jesse Simms, the HITEC scholarship recipient and manager of Resort Technical Support Services for ResortCom International, LLC. “I am now more confident and better equipped to face the challenges ahead. I appreciate the investment HFTP made in me and I look forward to being more involved with the organization.” The 2009 Annual Convention & Tradeshow is September 16 – 19 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. The application deadline for the Annual Convention & Tradeshow scholarship is August 1. For more information, contact Bryan Wood at [email protected] or (800) 646-4387 or +1 (512) 249-5333 x29.
