SINGAPORE, August 2009 � Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is pleased
to announce the following executive appointments in Asia Pacific with immediate
effect: Torsten Pinter, as General Manager of Swissôtel Nai Lert
Park, Bangkok and Jackson Wong, as General Manager of Swissôtel Foshan,
Guangdong.
Torsten
Pinter, General Manager, Swissôtel Nai Lert Park, Bangkok
Prior to his Bangkok appointment, Torsten was General Manager at Swissôtel
Foshan which opened in May 2008 to become Foshan�s first international
deluxe hotel. In a matter of months, he led his team to win the Best New
Opening Hotel of China Award at the 4th China Hotel Starlight Awards and
earned himself the Best General Manager of China�s Hotel Industry Award
at the same ceremony.
With a career that spans 10 countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle
East, this German national first joined Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts
in 2001 as part of the pre-opening team of Swissôtel Berlin, Germany.
He then assumed the position of Director of Food & Beverage and subsequently,
Executive Assistant Manager at Swissôtel Beijing Hong Kong Macau
Centre.
Torsten�s earlier career experience includes stints at the Hotel Balmoral,
Scotland, The Savoy in London, and with various international hospitality
chains including Four Seasons, Sheraton, Le Meridien and Westin.
The 338-room award-winning Swissôtel Nai Lert Park sits nestled
amidst a luxuriant sprawling 7-rai (2.8 acres) garden estate in the heart
of Bangkok�s central business and diplomatic district just minutes away
from the Skytrain station. In 2008, it was awarded Thailand�s Leading
Business Hotel at the World Travel Awards, Asia.
Jackson
Wong, General Manager, Swissôtel Foshan
Taking over the reigns from Torsten at Swissôtel Foshan will be
Jackson Wong who comes to the property from The Garden Hotel, Guangzhou
where he held the position of Assistant General Manager. Prior to this,
he was General Manager Sales & Marketing at LNH Hospitality in Guangzhou.
A Canadian national, Jackson has worked in several countries including
Hong Kong, Canada, Australia and China. He began his career in 1982 at
Holiday Inn Golden Mile, Hong Kong and has since, accumulated a wealth
of experience in hospitality as well as sales and marketing. 20 years of
his 28-year career have been in executive positions in five star deluxe
properties. His recent tenures have been senior management positions with
Mirage Hotel in Urumqi, Xinjiang, the Intercontinental in Shenyang and
Beijing Marriot Hotel West.
The 234-room Swissôtel Foshan is one of four Swissôtel
Hotels & Resorts� properties in China. It joins Swissôtel Beijing
Hong Kong Macau Centre which was the Swiss hospitality pioneer�s first
property in China, Swissôtel Kunshan and Swissôtel Grand Shanghai,
which also opened in 2008. |
