RAHWAY, N.J. (MAY 13, 2009) – Today’s economy is a rude awakening. So is waking a guest from a comfortable sleep at a time set by a previous guests’ alarm clock. Hotel Technologies keeps guests and owners sleeping soundly with its patented Single Day Alarm, featured on all of its Timex alarm clock radios. A wide assortment of affordable and dependable Timex clock radios will be on display in the Hotel Technologies Booth No. 7834 at HD Expo 2009, to be held May 14-15 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

“Hotel Technologies is taking the time to make a difference to travelers with our Timex alarm clock radios,” said Evan Stein, Hotel Technologies Vice President, Marketing Division. “Regardless of the hotel segment, a clean room, comfortable bed and inviting shower no longer are enough. Today’s travelers also demand personalized amenities, such as a dependable alarm clock that can be easily set and instantly cleared once it is switched off; an easy-to-navigate radio that easily tunes in to their preferred music genre; and an in-room entertainment device with quality sound that accommodates their MP3 player to make the experience complete.  Today’s owners mirror this list of demands from manufacturers, but at an affordable price.”

Ely Ashkenazi, National Sales Manager for Hotel Technologies, said: “2009 is a time of change. It’s a time for manufacturers to design attractive yet affordable solutions . . . It’s a time for owners to invest in the little things that are making a big difference to guests and to their loyalty . . . It’s a time for operators to take advantage of low occupancy by upgrading to affordable amenities in unsold rooms that add differentiation. It’s time for Timex.”

According to industry indexes, although every segment is down from its peak demand numbers in 2007 to early 2008, year-to-date the economy and mid-scale without food-and-beverage segments have had the smallest decline in year-over-year occupancy and the smallest decline in RevPAR.

“This shows that budget conscious travelers are remaining more loyal to their brands of choice in the mid-scale and economy segments than those in upscale and luxury,” Ashkenazi said. “There is no better way to retain those devoted guests once the economy resumes than by equipping guestrooms with the same amenities they would find in the upper segments and in their homes. With our wide variety of Timex products, it’s easy to do and at a price point that is affordable for everyone.”
