Jean Pierre Chaumard Named General Manager of Royal Mansour Marrakech

New Moroccan Property to Open November 2009

MARRAKECH, May 20, 2009 – November 2009 marks the opening of Royal Mansour in Marrakech, yet another fabulous development as part of Morocco’s Vision 2010. Already a member of Leading Small Hotels of the World, Royal Mansour has tapped the finest expertise to ensure a memorable experience for its guests.
Jean Pierre Chaumard has been named as the General Manager of Royal Mansour Marrakech. Hailing from a uniquely cultured background, Mr. Chaumard brings over twenty years of luxury hotel managerial experience to the development. He has served at such iconic hotels as La Mamounia in Marrakech, Evian Royal Resort in Geneva, Hotel de Maris in Monaco, and Hotel Byblos St. Tropez. He also managed the hotel of the Shah of Iran, Empereur Pahlavi, on the island of Kish, and most notably, gained recognition while most recently managing the Royal Palm in Mauritius for twenty years.
Mr. Chaumard has opened boutiques for a prestigious French jeweler on Rodeo Drive, and at one point assisted in opening the largest cashmere and silk carpet boutique on Jumeirah Avenue in Dubai. As a result of such worldly affairs, former French president Jacques Chirac awarded Mr. Chaumard with the Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur, for “representing the French savoir faire worldwide.”
Mr. Chaumard will oversee the grand opening of Royal Mansour Marrakech and hopes to “position it as the best hotel in Morocco, and thereafter, as one of the most impressive hotels worldwide.”
Other appointments to Le Royal Mansour include Romain Meiran as Deputy General Manager, Karim Fehry Fassy as Director of Sales & Marketing, Kenza Zizi as the Marketing Manager, and Yannick Alléno as Executive Chef. Mr. Meiran was formerly at the renowned Le Meurice in Paris, and Mr. Fassy was previously at Emirates Palace in Dubai. Ms. Kenza was recently in charge of a Marketing and Communication department of a Moroccan company specializing in hospitality and luxury real estate. Chef Alléno also comes to Le Royal Mansour from Le Meurice, where he won a coveted three Michelin stars for restaurant le Meurice.
One of the few privately-owned hotels in Marrakech and already a member of Leading Small Hotels of the World, Royal Mansour is elegantly composed of 53 individual riads, three restaurants, and an authentic Moroccan spa. Built into the ancient wall of Marrakech, the hotel recreates an historical medina of Andalusian courtyards interspersed with winding, shady alleyways and spectacular water displays and fountains. Each riad is uniquely designed and furnished with silks and brocades, ornate tiles, and handcrafted wood and antique furniture. Lobbies welcome guests into an open-air courtyard surrounded by a bar, living area, and in some cases, a dining room; first floors house bedrooms overlooking the courtyard; and roof terraces with sun beds and private pools provide stunning views of Marrakech or the Atlas mountains.
