CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Greater North
Michigan Avenue Association (GNMAA) held its annual Board of Directors
meeting with 400 attendees on Monday, February 23 in the auditorium of
the Museum of Contemporary Art. The event was capped off by a formal
induction of Peter Simoncelli, general manager for The Westin River North,
as the chairman of the board, a two-year volunteer leadership position.
During the evening event, 115 board members and 25 executive committee
members were voted into office, members of GNMAA were recognized for their
exemplary and outstanding service, and Mayor Richard M. Daley made a special
presentation.
Simoncelli has over 25 years of experience in the luxury hotel industry,
including his current position as the general manager at the Starwood Hotels
& Resorts property. He has been a mentor and facilitator for
Starwood leaders and has piloted many new Westin signature programs.
He previously spent 14 years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the
capacity of Hotel Manager and Food and Beverage Director at three properties.
He is an innovator in product enhancement, operational productivity and
revenue growth. Simoncelli's expertise and experience in this industry
make him a great asset to GNMAA.
Simoncelli lives in Downers Grove with his wife, Donna, and their two
children. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration
from Illinois College and was a four-year letterman on the golf team.
